Experience Level: C-Level / Executive About the Role We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and highly ethical Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) to lead the company's compliance, governance, and regulatory-risk framework in the UAE. The CCO will work closely with the Board, CEO, executive leadership team, Legal, Risk, Finance, Operations, and other business functions to ensure that the organization maintains strong compliance standards while supporting responsible business growth. The successful candidate will combine strong regulatory knowledge with sound business judgment, executive leadership, risk awareness, and the ability to develop practical compliance solutions across a growing organization. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement the company's overall compliance strategy and framework. Establish clear compliance policies, procedures, standards, and internal controls. Provide independent compliance advice to the CEO, Board, and senior management. Monitor the organization's compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. Identify, assess, and monitor regulatory and compliance risks across the business. Maintain an effective compliance-risk management framework. Lead regular compliance reviews, assessments, and monitoring activities. Identify compliance gaps and coordinate appropriate remediation plans. Monitor regulatory developments relevant to the company's business and operations. Translate regulatory requirements into practical policies and business processes. Review new products, services, markets, partnerships, and strategic initiatives from a compliance perspective. Oversee compliance reporting and provide regular updates to senior management and the Board. Coordinate responses to regulatory enquiries, reviews, inspections, and information requests where applicable. Support internal and external audits relating to compliance and governance. Maintain accurate records of compliance reviews, findings, investigations, and corrective actions. Establish and monitor compliance KPIs and reporting mechanisms. Promote a strong culture of ethics, integrity, accountability, and regulatory awareness. Develop and deliver compliance training and awareness programs. Work closely with Legal, Risk, Internal Audit, Finance, HR, Operations, and other control functions. Provide guidance to business teams on regulatory and compliance requirements. Oversee the investigation and escalation of significant compliance concerns. Ensure appropriate handling and escalation of potential regulatory breaches. Support the development and implementation of business-continuity and risk-management practices where relevant. Review and improve compliance processes, systems, and controls. Lead and develop the compliance team as the organization grows. Ensure the compliance function has appropriate resources, expertise, and operational independence. Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive regulatory and business information. Represent the company in relevant compliance and regulatory discussions. Perform other strategic compliance responsibilities assigned by the Board or senior management. What We're Looking For Strong experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, governance, risk, or a related control function. Strong understanding of corporate compliance and regulatory-risk management. Excellent analytical, judgment, and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into practical business processes. Strong understanding of internal controls, compliance monitoring, and governance frameworks. Excellent communication and executive-level presentation skills. Ability to provide objective and independent advice to senior management and the Board. Strong stakeholder-management and negotiation skills. Ability to balance regulatory requirements with commercial and operational objectives. Strong leadership and team-building capabilities. High level of integrity, professionalism, confidentiality, and accountability. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, international, and multicultural environment. Strong English communication skills. Arabic language skills are an advantage. UAE / GCC compliance experience is highly desirable. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Law, Compliance, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field. Relevant postgraduate or professional compliance qualification is an advantage. Qualifications such as CAMS, ICA, CCEP, or other relevant compliance, risk, legal, or governance certifications are beneficial. Typically 8+ years of progressive experience in Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, Risk, Legal, Audit, Governance, or a related field. Previous experience as a Chief Compliance Officer, Head of Compliance, Compliance Director, Senior Compliance Manager, or equivalent leadership role is preferred. Proven experience developing and managing compliance frameworks and internal controls. Experience working with senior executives, Boards, auditors, regulators, and external advisors is an advantage. Experience in a regulated industry is beneficial. Experience with AML/KYC, sanctions, financial crime, or regulatory reporting is an advantage where relevant to the business. UAE / GCC regulatory and compliance experience is highly desirable. International compliance experience is an advantage.
