Chief Operations Officer

Charterhouse are currently working exclusively with a client within the Oil & Gas operations and trading sector, who are looking to hire a Chief Operations Officer (COO). Our client has a centralised operational hub based in Dubai, overseeing their business units spanning the MEA region, which this role shall take management oversight of.

About the role
With a reporting line to the CEO and in support of the unit heads, the COO shall take ownership of operational management spanning corporate strategy and business development; to develop areas of profitability and sustainable growth whilst also assessing market and/or economic trends to ensure revenue optimisation across the commercial side and the portfolio of trading contracts. The role shall extend to assessing and steering the business lines and trading agreement; to align with market conditions, customer demand and supply parameters.

In conjunction with this, the COO shall take responsibility for all internal policies, processes and commercial objectives; to ensure areas of optimisation, budget planning and team allocation within the organisational structure whilst also managing any external relationships with stakeholders, regulators, vendors and financing business partners.

About you
To be considered for this role, the successful candidate will be a seasoned operations professional, spanning up to 15 years of background, within a commercial and business support related role. The successful candidate will come from within the Oil & Gas sector with a key understanding across both downstream and upstream functions along with an insight to both Middle East and African markets. This COO shall be well-versed within contract management and ideally, they shall demonstrate a knowledge of both engineering and finance-related technicalities and nuances.

An ability to pinpoint and refine commercial opportunity will be a key attribute within this role, whilst also being able to manage staff and reporting lines, at all levels spanning their international network. The nature of this role shall require travel on a regular basis from their Dubai corporate office.

This COO shall be expected to manage areas of responsibility spanning contract negotiation, trade finance oversight, succession planning and external interfacing, to ensure strong corporate governance and the management of any investor/shareholder relations across this dynamic and complex organisation.
