Role Description The Resident Engineer role at DEC is a full-time, on-site position based in Abu Dhabi. The Resident Engineer oversees day-to-day site activities, ensuring that construction works comply with approved designs, specifications, codes, and DEC quality and HSE standards. Responsibilities include supervising contractors, reviewing drawings and technical documents, conducting regular inspections, and monitoring progress against project schedules. The role involves coordinating with architects, engineers, consultants, and client representatives, identifying and resolving technical issues, and preparing site reports, correspondence, and documentation. The Resident Engineer also supports quality assurance, risk mitigation, and adherence to sustainability and regulatory requirements throughout the project lifecycle. Qualifications Demonstrated expertise in site supervision, construction monitoring, and coordination of architectural, structural, and MEP works. Strong technical knowledge of building codes, standards, quality assurance procedures, and health, safety, and environmental requirements. Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents, with solid problem-solving and decision-making skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and clients. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline; professional registration or chartership is an advantage. Previous experience as a Resident Engineer or similar role on building projects, preferably within the U. A. E. or Gulf region. Familiarity with sustainability frameworks such as LEED and ESTIDAMA is beneficial. Proficiency in relevant engineering and construction software (e.g., Auto CAD, Revit, project management tools) and strong reporting capabilities.
