We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Consultant Ophthalmologist to join our leading healthcare facility in the UAE.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in comprehensive ophthalmic care, diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders, surgical ophthalmology, and advanced eye care, with a commitment to delivering safe, precise, and patient-centered treatment.
The successful candidate will work closely with optometrists, ophthalmic nurses, anesthesiologists, neurologists, endocrinologists, pediatricians, and other members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive ophthalmology consultations and detailed eye examinations Diagnose and manage a broad range of ocular and visual disorders Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical assessment, diagnostic findings, and patient needs Perform comprehensive anterior and posterior segment examinations Diagnose and manage common eye conditions including cataract, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, corneal disorders, retinal conditions, and ocular inflammation Perform appropriate ophthalmic surgical procedures within the physician's training, competence, and approved clinical scope Perform cataract evaluation and surgery where appropriately trained and credentialed Assess patients for appropriate refractive and lens-based surgical options Diagnose and manage retinal and vitreous disorders and coordinate specialist intervention where required Assess and manage patients with glaucoma, including appropriate monitoring of intraocular pressure and optic nerve health Evaluate and manage corneal, external eye, and ocular surface conditions Perform appropriate minor ophthalmic procedures and laser treatments within clinical expertise Review and interpret OCT, visual fields, fundus photography, ocular ultrasound, corneal topography, fluorescein angiography, and other ophthalmic investigations as appropriate Provide appropriate screening and management of diabetic and hypertensive eye disease Assess and manage patients with age-related and other retinal disorders Provide pre-operative assessment, post-operative care, and follow-up for ophthalmic procedures Counsel patients regarding diagnosis, treatment options, surgical procedures, risks, expected outcomes, and follow-up Coordinate care with optometrists and other specialists for patients requiring multidisciplinary management Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and confidential ophthalmic records Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement, teaching, research, and continuing professional development
Requirements
MBBS, MD, or equivalent recognized medical qualification Recognized postgraduate qualification in Ophthalmology or an equivalent specialty Relevant post-specialization clinical experience Strong experience in comprehensive ophthalmology Demonstrated experience in ophthalmic diagnosis and surgical management Good knowledge of modern ophthalmic diagnostic technologies and surgical techniques Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills Excellent communication and patient-management skills Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team Good command of English; Arabic is an advantage
