• Conducting thorough assessments of patients' medical histories, symptoms, and diagnostic test results to determine the need for surgical intervention.
• Evaluating patients' preoperative health status, conducting preoperative assessments, and coordinating with other healthcare providers to optimize patients' medical conditions prior to surgery.
• Performing surgical procedures with precision and skill, utilizing appropriate surgical techniques, instruments, and equipment to achieve optimal outcomes while ensuring patient safety.
• Monitoring patients' recovery in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) or intensive care unit (ICU), managing postoperative pain, and providing instructions for wound care, activity restrictions, and follow-up appointments.
• Responding to emergencies such as intraoperative complications, postoperative bleeding, surgical site infections, and other perioperative crises with prompt and appropriate interventions.
• Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, including anesthesiologists, surgical assistants, nurses, and specialists in related fields, to ensure comprehensive patient care and optimal surgical outcomes.
• Educating patients and their families about the surgical procedure, potential risks and benefits, expected outcomes, and postoperative recovery process to facilitate informed decision-making and promote patient satisfaction.
• Participating in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives to enhance the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of surgical services, including adherence to evidence-based guidelines and best practices.
• Engaging in ongoing education, training, and professional development activities to stay abreast of advances in surgical techniques, technologies, and medical knowledge, maintaining licensure and board certification, and contributing to the academic and research community through scholarly activities.

Skills

• Must have an MOH or DHA license in Specialist General Surgery.
