Fleet Management Support Service (FMSS) Intern

Role and Responsibilities:

Under the leadership of the Head of Fleet Management Support Service, and with direct supervision of the MSDF Officer within the Fleet Centre of the Management Services Division the intern will benefit from close mentoring, guidance, and technical supervision. Performance planning and reviews as well as learning and development discussions will be an elemental part of the internship experience. With the support of a comprehensive induction package and some exciting soft-skills trainings, the intern will rapidly become a productive member of the team.

 

  • Generate and distribute user profiles as part of the Fuel App Implementation Project.
  • Guide and assist FMS user requests, navigating them through WeLearn FMS Trainings and certification processes.
  • Create and manage Driver/Staff records within FMS.
  • Conduct data cleansing to enhance FMS data quality, updating missing key fields in the Assets and other Master databases.
  • Update VTS master data records based on validation reports, monitoring timely activation and deactivation of VTS units.
  • Support with the Fleet Optimization team to oversee the implementation of fleet optimization recommendations in country offices.
  • Support other members of the FMSS team as requested by the supervisor.

 

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a recognized university or related university program, preferably in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems or Technology related.
  • WFP interns are required to have completed at least two years of their university programme or, if fresh graduates, they should have attended classes in the past 12 months;

  • Strong report writing, data analysis, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment. Willingness to contribute ideas and support colleagues in various tasks.
  • Demonstrated interest in humanitarian efforts and a commitment to making a positive impact.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment. Proactive attitude and a willingness to take on new challenges.
  • Capacity to learn fast from documentation and experience.
  • Fluency in English language.
  • Knowledge of Arabic and French languages is a plus.

 


Training components

Throughout their assignment WFP interns have access to an industry-leading learning platform, WeLearn. Depending on opportunities and availability of funds, he/she may participate in WFP workshops or seminars, as appropriate.

 

Learning Elements

At the end of the assignment, the Intern should have:

  • Have strong knowledge of WFP Management Services Fleet Centre Unit’s regulations, rules, procedures, and tools.
  • Have developed effective action management, customer services, reporting, and communication skills relevant to Fleet Management.
  • Have a general understanding of WFP overall operations and activities in the country office, region, as well as Headquarters.
