About the job Operator-Furnace (Steel Industry)

Role Purpose

Operate and control the temperature of the reheating furnace to ensure smooth operation and

safety of the equipment. Constant monitoring of billets flow from charging table into reheating

furnace and discharging of billets

Responsibilities
To operate the reheating furnace safely as per standard working procedures.
Monitor various parameters, graphs and be able to modify the parameters to ensure safe operation.
To be aware of safe procedures required to operate and stop/shutdown the furnace equipment.
Scale cleaning in furnace soaking zone and recuperating area during weekly down day.
Follow the procedures required for cooling down and heating up curves of reheating furnace after
shutdown.
Routine inspection of furnace auxiliary equipment's and report any abnormalities noticed to shift
supervisor or concern section.
To be familiar of HMI alarms to detect potential premature failure.
Able to identify malfunctioning of the equipment and give proper feedback to maintenance crew.
Maintain the work records in a well documented manner.
To keep the work area always clean and tidy.
Follow all management directives, regulations and policies relating to safety, quality, health and
environment.

To assist main pulpit operator whenever he is out of pulpit.
To assist during furnace refractory repair.
As per requested from line manager

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty
satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and
abilities required.
Good physical capabilities and health.,
Ability to judge distance, height, vision, clearance, hearing, color distinction,
reasonable quick reflexes, and assess the load weight
Basic knowledge of rigging and safe crane operation.
Fundamental Of Reheating Furnace operation.
Metallurgy Fundamental for Furnace Operation
RHF Relining.
Onsite emergency response plan RM

Minimum
Qualification
(Educational
Qualifications,
Diploma in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Electrical or
Instrumentation engineering.
Types of refractories and installation
Basics of RHF process automation

Professional
Experience
Minimum of 5 years' experience as Reheating furnace operator
Work experience in walking hearth type furnace.
Work experience in gas fired furnace
