Description

Role Purpose:

Support economic and financial analysis of utility networks by evaluating CAPEX, OPEX, lifecycle costs, and investment decisions to improve cost efficiency, resilience, and service performance

Key Responsibilities

Data Assessment: Identify data gaps, assess data quality, and recommend improvements for cost analysis Benchmarking: Analyze CAPEX, OPEX, and maintenance costs; benchmark against international utilities; identify efficiency gaps Techno-Economic Analysis: Evaluate Security of Supply Standards (SoSS), resilience, and service levels; assess cost vs reliability trade-offs Value Engineering: Conduct lifecycle cost analysis; identify cost-saving design and material alternatives Standards & Specifications: Perform cost-benefit analyses for new technologies and standards; support investment decisions Digital Tools Support: Develop cost models and support investment prioritization tools

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field Professional certifications preferred (e.g., CFA, CPA, or FMVA) Advanced degree (MBA / MSc Finance) desirable. Minimum 10 years of work experience. Experience in water, energy or infrastructure sectors preferred

Preferred Specifications

CAPEX/OPEX budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis Financial modelling and business case evaluation (ROI, NPV) Strong accounting knowledge (cost allocation, capitalization) Advanced Excel and ERP systems (e.g., SAP) proficiency Data analysis and reporting (insight generation for decision-making) Stakeholder coordination with finance, engineering, and operations teams Cost-benefit and investment analysis (NPV, IRR)
