About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Marine Sales Professional to grow our marine trading and supply business. This role combines sales, business development, and commercial trading responsibilities, the ideal candidate will have a proven track record of hitting revenue targets, opening new accounts, and growing existing client relationships within the marine/maritime sector. Beyond sales, this person will play a key role in structuring deals, managing client creditworthiness, organizing strategic imports, and sourcing competitively from local suppliers, with company investment available to support expansion.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
Consistently meet and exceed agreed sales targets and revenue growth objectives
Identify, pursue, and convert new business opportunities within the marine sector (shipping lines, vessel operators, port agents, offshore/marine service companies, etc.)
Build and expand relationships with existing client accounts, increasing wallet share and repeat business
Develop and maintain a strong sales pipeline and accurate forecasting
Client & Credit Management
Identify and onboard clients with strong creditworthiness and reliable payment history
Assess client credit risk in coordination with finance, and structure terms that protect company cash flow
Monitor receivables and proactively manage collections to minimize bad debt exposure
Trading & Supply Chain Operations
Organize and manage strategic import shipments, coordinating timing and volumes to meet client demand and market opportunities
Source products/services from local suppliers, negotiating favorable pricing and terms
Continuously identify cost-saving opportunities and better supplier rates to improve margins
Manage cash flow implications of import/trading activity, balancing working capital needs against opportunities
Business Growth
Leverage available company investment/capital to fund strategic stock positions, new supplier relationships, or market expansion
Propose and justify investment opportunities with clear ROI and risk assessment
Identify new markets, product lines, or geographic areas for expansion
Represent the company at industry events, client meetings, and trade shows to build market presence

Desired Candidate Profile
Requirements
Proven track record in marine sales, trading, or a related B2B commercial role, with demonstrable achievement of sales targets
Experience managing client accounts and growing revenue from existing relationships
Understanding of trade finance basics: credit terms, payment risk, cash flow management
Experience organizing imports/exports, freight, or supply chain logistics is highly desirable
Strong negotiation skills, particularly around supplier rates and contract terms
Commercial acumen: able to identify and pitch investment-backed growth opportunities
Strong network within the marine/maritime industry preferred
Excellent communication, relationship-building, and deal-closing skills
Comfortable working with financial data (margins, cash flow, credit risk) alongside sales metrics
CRM experience is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
Background in marine supplies sales, ship supply, marine equipment, or any mechanical sales
Knowledge of material testing standards and mechanical sizes
Existing relationships with local shipping/marine clients and suppliers
Experience working in a role where personal performance directly ties to company profitability
