Job description

  • Lead and manage the Civil Design Section for EPC substation projects.
  • Plan, organize, and monitor civil engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review, approve, and authorize all civil engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, and technical documents before client submission.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, utility requirements, applicable international standards, and local authority regulations.
  • Develop engineering execution plans, design schedules, and resource allocation plans.
  • Supervise the design of:
    • Substation control buildings
    • GIS and AIS equipment foundations
    • Power transformer foundations
    • Reactor and capacitor foundations
    • Cable trenches
    • Underground utility networks
    • Internal roads and pavements
    • Drainage systems
    • Oil containment pits
    • Firewater tanks
    • Boundary walls and security fencing
    • Site grading and earthworks
    • Steel structure foundations
  • Ensure constructability, maintainability, and cost-effective engineering solutions.
  • Lead value engineering initiatives to optimize project costs without compromising quality or safety.
  • Coordinate with Electrical, Structural, Mechanical, Protection & Control, Telecom, BIM, Procurement, and Construction teams.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary design reviews and engineering coordination meetings.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, utility companies, subcontractors, and local authorities regarding technical matters.
  • Review vendor drawings and ensure compatibility with civil design requirements.
  • Monitor engineering progress against project schedules.
  • Identify engineering risks and implement mitigation measures.
  • Provide technical support during procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and project close-out.
  • Resolve site technical queries (TQs), RFIs, and engineering deviations.
  • Participate in factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site inspections when required.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables comply with:
    • IEC Standards
    • BS Standards
    • Eurocodes
    • ACI
    • AISC
    • ASTM
    • ASCE
    • Client specifications
    • Company engineering procedures
  • Conduct design verification and internal technical reviews.
  • Ensure engineering documents are issued according to project document control procedures.
  • Implement lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
  • Master's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering is an advantage.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • Minimum 12–15 years of civil engineering experience.
  • Minimum 5 years in a supervisory or section head role.
  • Extensive experience in EPC High Voltage Substation projects (132kV, 220kV, 400kV).
  • Strong experience with utility clients such as TAQA, DEWA, TRANSCO, ADNOC, SEC, or similar is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
