Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Principal Accountant to join our team!
The Principal Accountant will be responsible for performing various accounting and financial tasks related to payment processing and transaction reconciliations. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in accounting principles, excellent attention to detail, and experience working with payment systems and financial transactions.
What You'll Be Doing:
Payment Processing: Ensure timely and accurate processing of payments, including reviewing invoices, recording transactions, and issuing payments to vendors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
Reconciliation: Conduct regular reconciliations of payment transactions, bank statements, and other financial records to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies or errors. Resolve any discrepancies promptly.
Financial Reporting: Prepare financial reports related to payment transactions, such as monthly bank reconciliations, cash flow statements, and aging reports. Summarize and present findings to management as needed.
Compliance: Stay updated on industry regulations and guidelines related to payment processing. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, policies, and procedures, including internal controls.
System Support: Collaborate with the IT department to optimize and maintain payment systems, troubleshoot any issues, and suggest enhancements or improvements to streamline processes.
Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation, explanations, and support related to payment processing and financial transactions.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement within the payment department. Develop and implement effective strategies, procedures, and controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as procurement, finance, and operations, to ensure smooth payment processes and address any related issues or concerns.
Training and Mentoring: Provide guidance, training, and support to junior staff members within the payment department. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
CPA certification is highly preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting or financial roles with a focus on payment processing and reconciliation.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
Experience working with payment systems, such as ERP or financial management software
