Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement product strategies to meet the brands’ needs and objectives
  • Identify customer preferences and forecast consumer trends
  • Conceptualise and present new product ideas and seasonal launches to management team
  • Creating design concepts and drawings of ideas selected by management
  • Develop prototypes with suppliers prior to production
  • Modify, revise and edit existing designs to meet customer expectations
  • Source new items for product ranges
  • Work closely with management team on quantities for new orders
  • Implement necessary systems with approval of management team
  • Manage the end to end procurement process including presentation of ranges, creation of purchase orders, management of suppliers and timely delivery of products
  • Evaluate supplier options (new and current) to determine the best choices taking into account quality and pricing
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, pricing with suppliers to achieve best terms and conditions
  • Ensure the timely delivery of products and compliance with the contracts of purchase
  • Preparation of range boards and training material for sales team
  • Work closely with sales and marketing team to ensure informative and successful launch of new items both in store and online
  • Stay up to date on current industry trends, emerging technologies and design best practices incorporating them into designs
  • Research new materials to implement into design concepts
  • Conducting regular competitor analysis / reporting feedback within bi-annual range reviews


Qualifications 

  • Proven work experience of +3 years as a buyer in furniture decor accessories
  • Strong knowledge of the industry and market trends
  • Experienced in production knowledge of material and industry ie.upholstery / steel
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent eye for detail, aesthetic design and customer appeal
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to balance aesthetics with functionality
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, cross functional team environment
