- Develop and spearhead the paediatric burn service in line with international world class standards.
- Form protocols and guidelines in the comprehensive treatment of acute and secondary paediatric burns reconstruction.
- Participate in the on-call rota for acute burns/trauma with consultant colleagues
- The appointed candidate would share the on-call plastic surgery rota with the existing consultant.
- Undertake independent clinics for paediatric plastic surgery
- Work closely with the wound care team and the pain service team
- Develop new services within the specialty of paediatric plastic surgery
- The proposed job plan includes a dedicated burns clinic, weekly operating list and general paediatric plastic surgery clinics.
- The post holder will also be required to actively contribute to the acute burns service and is expected to lead that service.
- There are opportunities to work jointly with colleagues from paediatric orthopaedics, paediatric ENT, paediatric surgeons, paediatric cardiac surgery and all paediatric sub-specialties.
- The ability to work flexibly, in collaboration with existing consultants and specialists is a necessary requirement of the post.
- Additional special interests of the candidate will be strongly encouraged.
Teaching:
- The hospital hosts an inhouse paediatric residency programme, and the post holder is expected to actively engage and teach topics on plastic surgery.
- In addition, residents from orthopaedics and other surgical/paediatric sub-specialties will rotate into the department providing ample opportunities for resident teaching.
- The department hosts medical students on their surgical rotation or elective.
- Candidates must show evidence of interest in teaching and training.
- Previous formal teaching roles including university positions, national course trainers and evidence of educator training is essential.
Research:
- Research is strongly encouraged in the hospital, and numerous clinicians are actively involved at the national and international level with their respective associations and research groups.

- Emirates Plastic Surgery Society has an annual international conference with a strong focus on original research and innovations.

Qualification & Training:
- Completion of all the formal requirements for the degree corresponding to Doctor of Medicine (MBBS, Board certification in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (Tier 1) and Fellowship in Paediatric burns)
- Completed senior fellowship in paediatric burns along with Consultant experience of being part of a Burns MDT

- Evidence of successful outcomes within paediatric plastic surgery
Teaching Experience:
- Evidence of both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching at formal & informal levels.
- Evidence of training in teaching & training of staff
- Experience of delivering training courses
Licensure and Certification:
- Successful completion of the DHA Licensure requirements as Consultant
- Maintenance of current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
