Key Accountabilities
- Responsible to the General Manager for the erection works of a designated area or areas of the site;
- Responsible for his appointed staff and such erection labor and equipment as allocated;
- Liaises directly with the owner rep for erection or installation clarifications;
- His overall task, with his appointed staff, is the erection and testing of the designated area(s) in a workmanlike and efficient manner by coordinating their activities;
- Coordinates his job planning with the contractual/project programs and fortnightly planning with the General Manager;
- Adheres to the site procedure for man-hour cost control;
- Responsible for all engineering work;
- Duties also include:
a. Constant review of project/contractual programs and planning sheets;
b. Promoting the importance of the man-hour cost sheets and site procedures;
c. Restricting his labor force to a minimum in keeping with his erection program. Advising the Head Foreman of the merits and deficiencies of the foremen and workers under his control;
d. Keeping his staff informed and sorting out their collective problems;
e. Meeting with the relevant Owner Rep with the presence of Head Foreman as necessary to discuss technical problems;
f. Spending the maximum time moving about the site to inspect all erection activities and ensure they are running smoothly and safely. Restricting office work to a minimum during working hours. Paperwork is more easily accomplished during the quiet of the evenings and without interruption;
g. Maintaining the firm but scrupulously fair direction and control of site discipline, ensuring productivity and harmony amongst all foremen and workers;
h. Seeing that the erection materials requisitioned are delivered prior to the articular erection activity commencing;
i. Investigating and recognizing when modifications and alterations are extra to contract, and following them up with the Owner Rep to obtain the latter’s agreement for the established extra works;
j. Keeping a daily log book and logging site events on a daily basis.
