Area Superintendent (with Multi Discipline experience)

Purpose

Reporting to the Construction Manager, you will be responsible in managing and overseeing day-to-day activities of the construction group. You will be Supervising discipline Superintendents and Supervisors.

Duties And Responsibilities But Not Limited To The Following

  • Assist the Discipline Manager in implementing Construction Manager directives and ensuring that construction activities comply with Project SHES, Quality, schedule and budget objectives.
  • Check construction methods and procedures prepared by the Discipline Superintendent to ensure smooth construction supporting the Project schedules and implement recovery plans as required.
  • Supervise and coordinate construction activities and coordinate between Discipline Superintendent to minimize interference between disciplines.
  • Ensure appropriate construction scheduling, materials and equipment installation and subcontractor performance. As construction nears completion, transition from area focus to system/subsystem completion to support testing and handover to COMPANY.
  • Establish detailed construction plans and sixty-day schedules for the review of the Discipline Manager and obtain the approval from Construction Manager.
  • Check and control construction to ensure that quality and workmanship conform to engineering drawings and specifications and that safety requirements are fulfilled.
  • Coordinate with COMPANY and subcontractor counterparts.
  • Ensure subcontractor manpower requirements are met. Plan, schedule and review work accomplished by discipline.
  • Ensure that sufficient plans and preparations have been made by Subcontractors to allow quality work to be completed in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Review construction labor, material and equipment requirements and effectively manage day-to-day activities of Discipline Supervisors and Subcontractors.
  • At the request of the project control department, review and comment on Subcontractor schedules, installation sequencing and coordination with other Subcontractors.
  • In collaboration with Subcontractors, establish overall, monthly, and weekly schedules to achieve the required progress and monitor Subcontractor schedules and cost and drive corrective actions with Supervisors and Subcontractors in the field to ensure construction work is delivered on time at or below budgeted cost.
  • Monitor discipline supervision to labor ratios is maintained at all times.
  • Liaise with Company construction representatives to ensure they are fully appraised of the construction status at all times.
  • With Discipline Superintendent, coordinate necessary interfaces and manage the transfer of work from one Subcontractor to another.
  • Coordinate with the material control department in a timely manner to meet construction schedules.
  • Manage Subcontractors and Supervisors to ensure productivity and efficiency to meet Project targets and ensure work progresses to meet the overall Project schedules.
  • Work in close co-operation with the QC department and QC supervision to ensure pre-fabrication and erection is carried out in a proficient and efficient manner.
  • Monitor Subcontractor labor levels, review trade composition against progress, identify deficiencies and recommend remedial measures to Subcontractors.
  • Distribute, assign action and follow-up incoming correspondence.
  • Work with the Discipline personals and interface with the field engineering department for drawing changes and change control management (RFI, queries).
  • Ensure that discipline personnel are assisting the subcontract department in the following:


Close-out of Subcontractor commercial issues

Identification of back charges and ensure notification to affected parties

Identification of insurance claims

Issuing of field Instructions/Site Instructions

Inputting Change Orders

Progress evaluations

  • Ensure that discipline personnel are considering the financial implications of all instructions to Subcontractors, reducing CTJV costs whenever possible.
  • Support introduction and maintenance process for Subcontractor’s construction temporary facilities (TSF).


Qualification And Background

  • Minimum 20 years of experience in oil and gas project (prerebly in LNG), as General Construction Superintendent or Area Superintenent or Manager handling multiple discipline construction activities in Large green field projects.
  • Bachelors degree or Diploma in Engineering.
  • Knowledge of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Client General Standards, design codes, standards, oil and gas industry construction practices and safety standards.
