A MATERIALS & CORROSION SPECIALIST is primarily responsible for working experience of both corrosion engineering/material selection and asset integrity assessment, ensuring they meet project requirements, industry standards, and safety regulations. They also provide technical support during fabrication, installation, and commissioning, and may mentor junior engineers Key Responsibilities:Design and Analysis:Understand the mechanisms of corrosion and develop methods to prevent or control it to ensure that the equipment meets performance and safety requirements. Selecting appropriate materials and Corrosion program for all the equipment. Reviewing vendor drawings and technical documents to ensure compliance. Familiarization with relevant international Engineering standards, and procedures Carry out Corrosion assessment on pipelines, piping and equipment, preferable software experience. Experienced in developing Corrosion Management Program (CMP) Report, Material Selection Report, Material Selection Diagrams, Coating Selection Diagrams, and Corrosion Loop Diagrams. Providing technical support in project’s related tasks; RBI and Corrosion Inspection Manuals for their operating assets and new projects including On-Stream Inspection (OSI) diagrams. Leading engineering assessments based on applicable codes (e.g., API 579, BS 7910, ASME B31G, DNV RP F101 etc). Coordinate technical issues with other Engineering Disciplines as required. Provide the necessary inputs/data to other disciplines as per the requirements and procedures. Provide guidance for performing corrosion calculations and interpretation of metallurgical codes and standards with its imprecision on detail design. Experienced with reviewing TBEs and NMRs mainly related to materials scope. Interface with Client representatives as required for resolving any technical issues. Review of Integrity assessment reports, which may include ILI reports, Fitness for Purpose (FFP) / Recommendations for Repair Reports (RRR), ILI raw data, Direct Assessment reports etc. as a primary input Liaise with the global offices for support where needed but expected convergence with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) Technical Expertise:Staying up-to-date with industry standards, regulations, and best practices. Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to static equipment. Conducting failure analysis and root cause investigations. Coordinates work with inter-disciplines, clients, and suppliers. Responsible for cost of the selected materials, schedule, quality and budget control. Participates in department meetings, project status meetings and is responsible for correct reporting of amongst other project status, progress, delays, change notices and management, lessons learned and close-out. Responsible to perform proposals work which involve man hour and schedule estimates related to the Project scope of work. Provide leadership skills with ability to lead and guide Junior Engineers. Documentation:Preparing technical specifications, data sheets, review Vendor’s Corrosion calculations. Preparing engineering reports and documentation. Ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date. Safety:Ensuring all designs meet safety standards and regulatory requirements. Identifying and mitigating potential safety hazards associated with all the equipment. Job Requirements:Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university. Minimum 10+ years of experience in a role which has had a primary technical function of providing corrosion engineering services in the oil and gas petrochemical industries. Possess relevant experience working on EPC projects with reputed international clients. Offshore project experience is preferred. Engineering degree from a recognized university or college (Materials / Metallurgy / Chemistry/ Chemical / Mechanical/ Petroleum) (Essential) The candidate may be required to work from the client’s office sometimes per project demand. Familiar with the use of Saudi Aramco and Industrial standards such as API 510, 570, 571, 580, 581 and 653. Familiarization with ECE and API RBI software. Should possess coordination and good oral and written communication skills.
