AI-driven tutoring, mastery-based progression, and a fundamental break from traditional classroom models produce these results. The outcomes are remarkable. We now need a leader who can align execution across varied school environments, elevate academic leadership standards, and serve as the public advocate for a movement rooted in rigorous learning science.

This is not a role focused on academic theory. It's a leadership imperative. You'll direct academic strategy in action, establish clear benchmarks, surface execution shortfalls, and mentor high-performing teams toward tangible outcomes. You'll convert our scientific principles into operational excellence and articulate this model's value to external audiences.

What You Will Be Doing

Developing academic frameworks that convert learning science into actionable direction for curriculum design, motivation systems, and application architecture. Conducting academic execution reviews with Heads of Academics to confirm school teams remain aligned, accountable, and results-driven. Integrating data, interviews, and direct observation into comprehensive academic ecosystem assessments that identify the most impactful obstacles to accelerated learning and recommend concrete interventions. Ensuring strategic alignment via planning processes, feedback mechanisms, and milestone monitoring to sustain focus on student learning objectives. Serving as 2 Hour Learning's representative at the highest levels—from keynote presentations to engagements with Ministries of Education—advancing systemic transformation in global education thinking.

What You Won’t Be Doing

Working on isolated curriculum initiatives without producing systemic impact. Publishing theoretical research disconnected from student outcomes or operational execution. Transferring performance accountability to middle management or external consultants. Depending on institutional reputation or theoretical arguments to convince skeptical audiences.

Director Of Academic Excellence Key Responsibilities

Expand and strengthen 2 Hour Learning's validated academic model by aligning execution across school sites, raising leadership standards, and establishing yourself as the authoritative public voice of a movement anchored in rigorous science and demonstrated results.

Basic Requirements

Advanced degree (Master's or Ph. D.) in Learning Science, Educational Psychology, Instructional Design, or a related field7+ years leading academic or EdTech teams with evidence of exceptional learning outcomes Proven experience applying AI or technology to accelerate learning Track record of public thought leadership such as media, keynotes, books, or advising Strong performance management skills with the ability to hold elite peers to a high bar Fluent in interpreting data to diagnose learning issues and direct interventions Comfortable engaging directly with students, parents, and school leaders

Nice-to-have Requirements

Founded or led an innovative school model, lab school, or high-performing EdTech venture Experience navigating cultural, political, or international education contexts Deep familiarity with Bloom's 2 Sigma research and other mastery learning frameworks

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $200 USD/hour, which equates to $400,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
