Job Details


We are looking for a highly organized and technically strong Project Control & Planning Engineer to manage project planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, project controls, and reporting for construction and engineering projects. The role will be responsible for developing and maintaining detailed project schedules, establishing baselines, tracking actual progress against planned progress, identifying delays and critical activities, and supporting project teams with effective planning and control strategies.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with Primavera P6 (P6), project planning, baseline schedules, WBS, resource loading, progress measurement, schedule updating, critical path analysis, S-Curves, earned value management, look-ahead planning, delay analysis, and project reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, monitor, and update detailed project schedules using Primavera P6.

  • Prepare the Baseline Programme / Baseline Schedule in line with contractual requirements, project milestones, scope, and execution strategy.

  • Develop project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), activity coding, calendars, relationships, constraints, milestones, and activity sequences.

  • Prepare Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 and detailed execution schedules as required.

  • Establish project timelines covering engineering, procurement, fabrication, material delivery, construction, installation, erection, testing, commissioning, and handover.

  • Prepare and maintain Master Programme, Detailed Programme, Recovery Programme, Catch-Up Programme, Revised Programme, Target Programme, and Look-Ahead Schedules.

  • Monitor planned versus actual progress and identify schedule deviations, delays, slippages, and critical activities.

  • Perform Critical Path Method (CPM) analysis and monitor critical path, near-critical activities, float, constraints, and key project milestones.

  • Update Primavera P6 schedules based on actual site progress, engineering status, procurement status, fabrication progress, material delivery, and installation activities.

  • Collect progress information from Project Engineers, Site Engineers, Construction Teams, Fabrication Teams, Procurement, Engineering, and Subcontractors.

  • Establish and maintain progress measurement systems and project performance indicators.

  • Prepare Daily, Weekly and Monthly Progress Reports and management dashboards.

  • Develop and monitor S-Curves, Progress Curves, Manpower Histograms, Productivity Reports, Planned vs Actual Reports, and KPI Dashboards.

  • Track Physical Progress, Engineering Progress, Procurement Progress, Fabrication Progress, Delivery Progress, Installation Progress, and Overall Project Progress.

  • Prepare Weekly Look-Ahead Plans and coordinate with project teams to identify upcoming activities, priorities, constraints, and required resources.

  • Monitor manpower, equipment, materials, productivity, and resource requirements against the approved project plan.

  • Perform resource loading, resource leveling, manpower planning, and resource forecasting.

  • Identify schedule risks and potential delays and provide mitigation, recovery, and acceleration plans.

  • Prepare Delay Analysis, Time Impact Analysis (TIA), Extension of Time (EOT) support, Delay Events, and Schedule Impact Assessments when required.

  • Maintain accurate records of baseline changes, schedule revisions, approved variations, delays, disruptions, and project milestones.

  • Assist the Project Manager and Project Controls Manager in developing recovery strategies and corrective action plans.

  • Coordinate with commercial and contracts teams regarding variations, claims, delays, disruption, EOT, and contractual milestones.

  • Review subcontractor and supplier schedules and monitor their progress against approved programmes.

  • Analyze subcontractor performance and identify schedule slippage and productivity issues.

  • Prepare Earned Value Management (EVM) reports including PV, EV, AC, SPI, CPI, ETC, and EAC, where applicable.

  • Monitor Planned Value (PV), Earned Value (EV), Actual Cost (AC), Schedule Performance Index (SPI), and Cost Performance Index (CPI).

  • Assist in forecasting project completion dates, manpower requirements, resource requirements, and schedule risks.

  • Ensure project schedules are aligned with contractual milestones, client requirements, IFC drawings, procurement schedules, fabrication schedules, and site execution plans.

  • Participate in project progress meetings and present schedule status, progress updates, critical activities, delays, risks, and recovery actions.

  • Maintain project control documentation and ensure timely submission of planning deliverables to management, consultants, and clients.

  • Support the preparation of Project Execution Plans (PEP), Planning Procedures, Progress Measurement Procedures, and Project Control Procedures.

  • Coordinate with engineering teams to monitor drawing submissions, approvals, RFIs, technical submittals, and engineering deliverables.

  • Track procurement activities including material requisitions, purchase orders, material approvals, manufacturing, inspection, delivery, and site availability.

  • Monitor construction activities such as fabrication, steel erection, installation, cladding, façade, aluminium works, PEB, structural steel, metal works, fit-out, and associated site activities.

  • Maintain effective communication with project stakeholders to ensure timely identification and resolution of schedule constraints.

Industry Experience

Experience in one or more of the following industries will be highly preferred:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Project Management, or a related engineering discipline.

  • 3–7 years of experience in Project Planning, Project Controls, Construction Planning, or Project Scheduling.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Primavera P6 is mandatory.

  • Experience in preparing and managing baseline programmes and detailed project schedules.

  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, project execution, progress measurement, and schedule control.

  • Experience working with main contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and clients is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of Excel, MS Project, Primavera P6, project reporting, and planning documentation.

  • Ability to interpret IFC drawings, BOQs, project specifications, construction methodologies, and project schedules.
