Carry out thread cutting, shoulder refacing, boring, facing, and other required machining operations.
Select suitable cutting tools, inserts, feeds, speeds, and machining parameters according to material and connection requirements.
Inspect pin and box connections using approved thread gauges and precision measuring instruments.
Verify critical connection characteristics such as thread form, taper, lead, pitch, standoff, shoulder condition, dimensions, and surface finish as applicable to the connection specification.
Identify damaged, worn, galled, or out-of-tolerance threads and determine whether recutting/repair can be performed within approved requirements.
Maintain dimensional accuracy and ensure machined connections pass required gauging and inspection criteria.
Coordinate with Quality Control / Inspection personnel for final acceptance and release.
Ensure correct identification and traceability of drill pipe, connection type, serial/job number, and machining records.
Maintain thread gauges, measuring instruments, tooling, and machines in proper condition.
Follow approved procedures for handling, protection, and storage of completed pin and box connections.
Report non-conformances, excessive material removal, dimensional deviations, or other conditions that may affect connection integrity.
Follow HSE requirements, machine safety procedures, and workshop housekeeping standards.
