Manager Business Continuity and Environment, Health, and Safety (UAE Nationals Only)

Lead, plan, and direct the development and implementation of Business Continuity and Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) strategies, frameworks, and plans in line with regulatory requirements across Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange Group (ADX Group) and its subsidiaries as per the strategic goals to establish robust and resilient operational continuity while prioritizing the well-being and safety in line with global best practices.


Key Accountabilities:

Strategy Development and Implementation

  • Develop and direct the implementation of the divisional strategy ensuring alignment to functional strategy, ADX Group, and its subsidiaries’ vision, mission, and corporate objectives.
  • Ensure that functional and/or departmental strategies and related strategic plans are developed and implemented, which are aligned with the vision and mission of the organization.
  • Ensure the provision of subject matter expertise for the assigned domain and provide counsel to ADX Group and its subsidiaries’ leadership on all related areas to facilitate the achievement of the organization strategy and functional strategies.
  • Lead and manage the development, implementation, maintenance, and governance of ADX Group and its subsidiaries’ EHS and Business Continuity strategy, policies, and framework to ensure that effective arrangements are in place to respond to any incident/disasters and maintain management approved levels of assurance of continuity for business operations, hence safeguarding the interests of key stakeholders.

 

Leadership

  • Manage the effective achievement of divisional objectives through effective leadership and by setting of individual objectives, managing performance, developing, and motivating teams to maximize performance.
  • Lead the talent development initiatives for the assigned division, collaborating with discipline experts and thereby ensure the availability of talent to fit business requirements.
  • Act as a role model and drive adherence to organizational values and ethics by employees of the assigned division to ensure the establishment of a value-driven culture within the organization.

 

Budgeting and Financial Performance

  • Manage the consolidation and recommend the department budget and monitor financial performance versus the budget so that the business is aware of anticipated costs/revenues, areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified, and potential areas of cost reduction or performance improvement opportunities are capitalized upon.

 

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures

  • Develop and lead the implementation of divisional policies, systems, processes, procedures, and controls covering all areas of assigned functional so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service in a consistent manner.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of health and safety policies, standards, and procedures, ensuring alignment with local and global EHS standards.

 

 

Business Continuity Management (BCM)

  • Manage the development and application of BCM Framework, incorporating policies, strategies, and programs in compliance with best standards practice increasing ADX Group and its subsidiaries’ ability to prevent, prepare for, respond to, manage, and recover from the impacts of a business disruption event, and hence continue to deliver critical services.
  • Establish business continuity plans commensurate with the nature, size, and complexity of their operations, taking into consideration different types of likely or plausible risks/scenarios to which ADX Group and its subsidiaries may be vulnerable to provide resilience against such risks/scenarios.
  • Ensure that BCM plans are defined, rigorously tested, and implemented across all departments, in response to threats and hazards identified through risk management processes to reduce the likelihood or effects of a disruptive event, as well as to develop capabilities to ensure effective response and recovery.
  • Oversee Risk identification and business impact analysis, response options, training, testing and maintenance, Response process (Emergency response, crisis management), and Recovery process (continuity response, and recovery response) to ensure these are well incorporated into the planning and management of Business continuity.
  • Monitor and review BCM plans to ensure strategies remain consistent with current operations, risks and threats, resiliency requirements, response, and recovery priorities, and that they incorporate lessons from testing and activation.
  • Support/Lead resolution during crises, aiming to stabilize the situation and communicate with stakeholders to limit further deterioration.
  • Oversee ADX Group and its subsidiaries’ business continuity capabilities through measuring maturity, while directing the identification of key risk requirements, to strengthen the business continuity framework and enhance overall resilience.
  • Guide the successful coordination of ADX Group and its subsidiaries Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, Crisis Communications, and Incident Management (IM) Programs in the assigned regions, to minimize disruptions and enhance overall resilience.
  • Manage all business continuity efforts following a disruption/crisis, approving disaster recovery plans, in line with regulatory requirements and ADX Group and its subsidiaries’ strategic objective, aimed at effective recovery, and minimizing risks to essential business functions. 
  • Oversee the successful implementation of the incident communication and assessment process to ensure potential and actual incidents are recorded, assessed, communicated, and managed appropriately for business continuity purposes, fostering a proactive approach to addressing evolving business needs.
  • Direct the development of a Business Impact Analysis (BIA), enhancing ADX Group and its subsidiaries’ resilience and continuity of essential business operations.
  • Oversee and direct the continuous maintenance of business continuity plans, procedures, and facilities to ensure the achievement of the recovery strategy and objectives across ADX Group and its subsidiaries.
  • Oversee the accurate evaluation of Business Continuity requirements, to guarantee that the solutions implemented meet the business requirements. 
  • Lead and direct the effective implementation of corporate frameworks, policies, procedures, and processes to promote a culture focusing on the achievement of world class standards in risk management, QHSE and business continuity within Business Continuity and Environment, Health, and Safety affairs to foster a resilient organizational framework and achieve alignment with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop reports showcasing the status of meeting its regulatory requirements for business continuity and to measure compliance against recognized industry standards.
  • Prepare and submit periodic reports outlining key performance indicators, activities, and achievements in EHS to the management, providing insights for strategic decision-making to Senior management.

 

Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS)

  • Drive the establishment of an organizational culture promoting compliance to environment, sustainability, health, and safety global standards, while directing the development and implementation of frameworks, strategies, policies, and procedures to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude.
  • Govern the development and implementation of monitoring and audit frameworks (including use of third parties), suitably able to evaluate the robustness of ADX Group and its subsidiaries’ sustainability standards, to eliminate/mitigate non-compliances and report to the Senior Leadership and Board/Board committees on sustainability-related matters.
  • Ensure ADX Group and its subsidiaries’ sustainability expectations and drive continual improvement on corporate sustainability performance.
  • Provide strategic oversight in the development and successful implementation of a program aimed at conducting Health and Safety audits, contributing to monitoring the implementation of applicable policies and procedures, in compliance with Health & Safety Regulations.
  • Oversee and monitor ADX Group and its subsidiaries’ response to Health and Safety-related incidents, acting as an advisor through the investigation process, while facilitating the identification and implementation of remedial actions for continuous improvement.
  • Provide overall direction in the reviewing of Health & Safety accident reports generated by business lines, overseeing statistical analyses, and the formulation of recommendations to proactively prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
  • Contribute to the development of EHS performance standards, approving acceptance criteria in compliance with local legislative requirements and international standards to enhance organizational safety and environmental practices.
  • Lead the formulation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for optimized performance monitoring and quality measurement purposes for the EHS function, monitoring their achievement periodically.
  • Direct data coordination activities such as the collection and collation of EHS data, while overseeing the generation of various weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual EHS reports to support management with informed decision-making.
  • Provide oversight on statistical information generation, including tracking and trending from recorded EHS data to assess progress, identify loopholes, and address areas of concern to facilitate effective management decision-making.
  • Escalate complex and unresolved health and safety risks to the Chief Risk Officer to gain strategic insight and resolution.
  • Oversee the secure and accurate management of all Crisis and Emergency Management documents to ensure their accessibility, and effectiveness in supporting comprehensive emergency preparedness and response measures.

 

Key Stakeholder Management

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging team members to stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in business continuity and EHS processes.

 

Innovation & Change Management

  • Lead the management of change through continuous improvement of functional and/or departmental systems, processes, and practices taking into account global standards and changes in the business environment which demand proactive action plans.

Skills

Educational and Professional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of EHS and business continuity principles, practices, and standards, as well as regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Overall Experience:

  • 10 years of experience working in a similar sector, preferably 4 years of working with Securities/Stock Exchange
  • At least 4 years’ experience with growing managerial accountability in roles within similar operations.
