Job description:

Responsible for the care and maintenance of gardens, lawns, and outdoor landscapes. Their primary goal is to ensure that these outdoor spaces are healthy, beautiful, and well-maintained.

Planting and Cultivating:

• Selecting and planting flowers, shrubs, trees, and other plants.

• Pruning, trimming, and shaping plants to promote healthy growth and maintain desired aesthetics.

• Caring for and propagating plants through methods like seeding, grafting, or cutting.

Soil Preparation:

• Assessing soil quality and making necessary amendments to improve fertility and drainage.

• Mulching to conserve moisture, control weeds, and regulate soil temperature.

• Applying fertilizers and other soil nutrients as needed.

Watering and Irrigation:

• Monitoring soil moisture levels and adjusting watering schedules accordingly.

• Installing and maintaining irrigation systems such as drip irrigation or sprinklers.

Pest and Disease Management:

• Identifying and addressing pest infestations and plant diseases.

• Applying pesticides, herbicides, or other treatments as necessary while adhering to safety guidelines.

Lawn Care:

• Mowing lawns and maintaining a neat appearance.

• Aerating and overseeding to promote healthy grass growth.

• Weed control and fertilization of lawns.

Equipment and Tool Maintenance:

• Properly maintaining and cleaning gardening tools and equipment.

• Ensuring the safe and efficient operation of machinery such as lawn mowers, trimmers, and chainsaws.

Seasonal Responsibilities:

• Preparing gardens and landscapes for winter by mulching, pruning, and protecting sensitive plants.

• Spring and fall clean-up, including leaf removal, weeding, and general garden tidying.

Skills

Experience in the same field is preferred.
