About the Role

As the Head of Operations, you will report directly to the COO and play a pivotal role in overseeing the operational effectiveness and strategic management of vessel operations. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that fleet operations align with the company's goals, focusing on maximizing performance, ensuring compliance with international regulations, and driving continuous improvement. This leadership role demands extensive experience within the maritime industry, alongside strong strategic thinking, operational oversight, and proven team leadership abilities.

Key Responsibilities

- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement comprehensive strategies for vessel operations that align with corporate objectives.

- Operational Management: Oversee the daily operations of the vessel fleet, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and compliance with maritime regulations.

- Fleet Performance Optimization: Monitor vessel performance and lead initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.

- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure vessel operations comply with international safety, environmental, and security standards, fostering a culture of accountability.

- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of operations managers, promoting continuous improvement and professional development.

- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with key stakeholders, including port authorities and regulatory bodies, ensuring clear communication and collaboration.

- Financial Oversight: Manage budgets and control costs for vessel operations, analysing financial metrics and implementing strategies to improve profitability.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

- Significant experience in vessel operations management within the shipping industry, with several years in a senior leadership role.

- In-depth knowledge of maritime regulations, safety management systems, and vessel operations.

- Proven track record of optimizing fleet performance and managing complex logistical challenges.

- Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management and financial analysis.

- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
