Overview:

As the Category Manager for Clothing, you will lead the growth and profitability of the clothing segment, driving both strategic and operational initiatives. Your role will involve overseeing all aspects of sourcing, product development, and vendor management, while ensuring that the category remains competitive in terms of trends, quality, and customer experience. You will define and execute the category vision, while also managing vendor relationships and optimizing the supply chain to meet business objectives.


Job Duties & Responsibility:

  • Vendor Sourcing & Development: Identify, onboard, and manage suppliers for clothing collections, ensuring alignment with business goals and maintaining quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Category Strategy & Vision: Develop and implement a comprehensive roadmap for the clothing category, driving new product introductions and enhancing existing assortments based on market trends and customer demands.
  • Trend & Market Analysis: Stay updated on industry trends, competitive positioning, and customer preferences to ensure the clothing category remains relevant and appealing.
  • Product Assortment Planning: Oversee the development and expansion of product ranges, ensuring a balanced mix of styles, pricing, and quality to appeal to a wide customer base.
  • Supply Chain Optimization: Collaborate with supply chain teams to ensure timely and efficient product delivery, balancing lead times and inventory levels to optimize stock availability.
  • Quality Control& Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all clothing products meet stringent quality standards and comply with industry regulations, from fabric quality to sustainable practices.
  • Customer Experience Focus: Create a superior shopping experience by offering a well-curated product assortment, compelling merchandising, and customer-friendly product information.
  • Vendor Relationship Management: Maintain strong relationships with clothing manufacturers and suppliers, negotiating contracts, ensuring timely deliveries, and addressing any production challenges.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams across marketing, design, supply chain, and customer service to ensure the successful launch of new clothing lines and the seamless operation of the category.
  • Data-driven Decision Making: Utilize data and market insights to drive product launches, pricing strategies, and promotional plans, ensuring profitability and customer satisfaction.


Skills & Competencies:

  • Trend Forecasting & Market Insight: Ability to identify and predict fashion trends, aligning product offerings with current and future customer preferences.
  • Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Expertise in managing global and local vendors, negotiating agreements, and ensuring timely and quality production.
  • Analytical & Strategic Thinking: Strong skills in analyzing category performance data and market trends to inform product decisions, pricing, and promotional strategies.
  • Supply Chain & Inventory Management: Deep understanding of supply chain processes and experience optimizing lead times, costs, and inventory levels in a fashion retail environment.
  • Customer-Centric Approach: Passion for enhancing the customer experience by curating on-trend assortments, offering relevant product information, and improving product availability.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Ability to lead projects across multiple teams (design, marketing, supply chain) and manage competing priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong financial understanding with experience managing category P&L, setting pricing strategies, and driving overall profitability


Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in the fashion/clothing industry, with a deep understanding of product categories such as men’s, women’s and children’s apparel.
  • Proven track record of managing clothing vendors, overseeing sourcing, and driving product development.
  • Expertise in category management, including trend forecasting, product assortment, and inventory planning.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data insights into actionable business strategies.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities and the ability to make data-driven decisions to optimize category performance.
  • Exceptional communication, team management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
