Job Description- Sr. Manager, Downstream Operations

2. The Context / Purpose of the Job
Align with overall objectives of the organization to meet long & short-term objectives of the Downstream
Business by providing complete management of the operations in Readybuild (Cut & Bend) and
Sm@rtFAB (Welded Wire Mesh) Centres.
The role will represent the company to these Centres as a single point of contact and will lead the effective
implementation of contract management processes in the assigned Region. This role will be critical in
developing and onboarding new Centres in line with the growth of the business in the region.
The Senior Manager, Operations Management will ensure implementation of TSL policies, Safety- and Quality
related approved Processes, Inspection, and testing check lists (from Raw Material to Finished Goods) at the
centres.
In addition, this role will also drive effective implementation of Product Branding and developing Centres as a
“visual factory” to ensure appropriate standard look and feel of the facilities. The role will lead in getting the
centres approved from various certifying agencies and customers’ representatives visiting the centre.
The role will also drive operational and cost efficiencies, implement mandatory safety requirements and
mentor the Operations and Maintenance team on capability development of the centres.
3. Job responsibilities:

1. Implementation, Review, and monitoring of Contract Management Process:
Develop a dashboard of key KPI’s to monitor performance for effective implementation of
Contract Management Process.
Implement process of continuous improvement on Cost, Quality, Delivery and Customer
Satisfaction Index.
2. Implementation of Quality Management System at the Centres.
Ensure adherence to Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) and conduct planned Quality Audits of
various Centres.
Implement Quality Standards (Ex ISO 9001, ISO 14000 etc.)
Plan training and development program with TSL Quality Assurance team to improve in-
process capability of these facilities.
Participate in Periodic monitoring and review of PQCDSM of the centre with the customers.
3. Implement TSL H&S Policies
Develop a H&S Plan for the centre and process of regular internal H&S audit.
Implement 5S concept for management of housekeeping of the Centres.
4. Operations Management & Improving Operational Efficiency
Develop operational schedule based on OSP for each Centre.
Monitor RM stocks at various stock points.
Develop KPIs to monitor operational efficiencies.
Develop MIS to update order progress and advance information of deviation.
5. Risk Management & Prioritization
Ensure risk identification, risk analysis, risk evaluation, risk mitigation, and risk monitoring for
each centre.
Guide site team/Vendors/Production partners and ensure Priorities of jobs sites are met based
on requirements
Cost Reduction / Working Capital Management:
Study the cost elements and benchmark them with the best in the industry.
Develop cost reduction plans through automation/efficient processes.
Monitor age of the RM and FG stocks at each centre and coordinate with sales and LP planning
team to ensure faster stock turnaround time.
7. IT Support
Support Centre’s Operation team with selection of appropriate IT infrastructure.
Implement necessary training in SAP processes and systems.
Resolve IT issues in consultation with central IT support team.
Support Centre with in understanding and supporting with various civil engineering software
like CuBe+, AutoCAD, MS Office and BIM Managers.
8. Capability Development: Processing Infrastructure
Review and prepare gap analysis on operational capabilities.
Develop a time-bound plan to develop required processing capabilities.
Take a sign-off of the plan and implement it in a time-bound manner.
Periodically monitor the progress and report compliance to Central Teams.
9. Capability Development—Human Resources
Support SPC’s management team in developing an appropriate organisational structure.
Develop a customised Training Plan through the training need Process and implement it
at each SPC centre.
10. Audits and Stock Reconciliation, disposal of scrap and old stocks:
Plan and implement stock audits with the regional Manager.
Close all the open audit observations in a time-bound manner.
Support sales planning team in effective disposal of scrap/old stock.
11. Rejections and Customer Complaints:
Implement corrective and preventive actions at Centre based on customer/CCMP feedback.
Customers: Service Centres, Steel processing centres (SPCs)
Influencers: Architects, Engineers, Masons, Govt Bodies
4. Knowledge, skills and experience
Educational qualifications
Degree in Engineering (Civil/Mechanical/Structural)
Full-time or Part-time MBA in Marketing & Sales will be preferred
Relevant experience Min. 3 years of experience in operations of Cut & Bend and Welded
wire manufacturing centres
