Head of Inspection

Job Purpose

This role acts as the Technical Advisor and Subject Matter Expert on Inspection for the entire plant. The role ensures the application of engineering and technology skills, as well as offering expertise in the development and support of Inspection processes and change requests for the Operations and Maintenance Departments

Ensure that all external and infernal legislative requirements are completed with in relation to inspection of Process equipment in the plant and is responsible for developing and implementing inspection procedures in compliance with current industry and legislative requirements.


Principal Accountabilities

  • Design procedures and work instructions for effectively inspecting and reporting plant assets (Equipment and piping)
  • Review currently standards, codes and policies to ensure that the inspection activities are adequate and complaint with industry practice and legal guidelines.
  • Control and Monitor all procedural activities to ensure the data acquired is accurate and consistent.
  • Initiate, Organize and Supervise inspection activities are carried out in an efficient and consistent manner.
  • Plan inspection activities based on the Risk Based Inspection methodology and ensure that process equipment requiring integrity inspection are addressed.
  • Provide support for the development of turnaround scope in defining inspection activities.
  • Ensure that vendors and fabricators have a quality Assurance/ Control ram in compliance with DUGAS specifications.
  • Ensure that the Corrosion Management Database "Wincairs", "TOCA" and the ongoing inspections databases are updated with current inspection data.
  • Perform statical analysis of current inspection data to enable proactive maintenance activities.
  • Develop, review turnaround and outstream inspection reports and repair requests timely and accurately to meet company/ Department requirements.


Qualifications:

  • Technical School, Graduate Diploma, Mechanical Engineering Degree B.Sc/ B. Tech.
  • 12- 15 years experience in in service Inspection in the Oil & Gas/Petrochemical Industry or
  • 10 years with Mechanical Engineering Degree.
  • Facilitative leadership style and thorough knowledge of concepts and Methodologies for Inspection activities.
  • Great attention to details and a result driven approach.
  • Ability to address problems and dela effectively with conflicts, reliable and trust worthy. Commensurate Communication and Management skills. Good command on written and spoken English.
