Description
In this role, you will be responsible for undertaking two critical roles – Teaching and Learning support and Board Examinations programs. This key leadership role will take responsibility to:
Role & Responsibilities:
- Support Teachers in Implementing Best Practice
- Lead the IGCSE program
- Lead the introduction and development of A levels
- As a member of the Senior Leadership Team
- Promote a culture of co-operation, collaboration, and effective partnerships across the school through good working relationships with others within the school.
- Build professional and leadership skills across the school.
- Set high standards and expectations among colleagues across the school, hold them accountable for their performance, and monitor them rigorously.
- Manage change effectively to enhance teaching, learning, and services.
- Contributes to the management of all teaching staff.
- Prepare reports as part of the Self –Evaluation processes of the school in line with the agreed distribution of responsibilities and the United Arab Emirates Unified Inspection Framework.
- As Teaching and Learning Support Specialist
- To encourage high teaching standards and to act as a role model to colleagues in and out of the classroom
- To develop classroom practices of the teachers at the school to ensure the highest possible academic standards
- To provide support for continued improvement of teaching and learning through observation, mentoring, coaching, and modelling.
- To develop structures for staff to share their own successful practices
- To lead on strategies to embed high quality teaching and learning and sustained high achievement and attainment
- To promote performance management as a means of improving teaching, learning, leadership and management activities.
- To support interventions for underperforming staff
- To work closely with the Vice Principals of Primary and Secondary, the Head of Assessment and the Heads of Department on embedding effective practices at the planning, implementation, and impact stages of learning
- As IGCSE Lead
- Meet regularly with IGCSE HoDs and teachers to review curriculum planning and coverage.
- Regularly review curriculum / syllabus coverage, monitoring student access to IGCSE learning and syllabus pacing.
- Ensure that curriculum pacing is such that students are well-prepared for final examinations and exam preparation is consistently and effectively delivered.
- Meet regularly with IGCSE students to gather feedback and to ensure that students understand their current attainment and future targets.
- Review subjects offered and recommend to senior leadership development/s to ensure a broad and balanced curriculum, meeting the needs and aspirations of students.
- To work in collaboration with the VP Secondary on quality assurance and Performance Management of IGCSE staff and to identify specific International General Certificate of Secondary Education International General Certificate of Secondary Education.
- As A Level Head
- Meet regularly with A level HoDs and teachers to review curriculum planning and coverage.
- Regularly review curriculum / syllabus coverage, monitoring student access to A level learning and syllabus pacing.
- Ensure that curriculum pacing is such that students are well-prepared for final examinations and exam preparation is consistently and effectively delivered.
- Regularly monitor A Level assessments and the application of marking criteria and the moderation of assessments.
- Ensure that assessment informs target-setting at the individual level.
- Meet regularly with A level students to gather feedback and to ensure that students understand their current attainment and future targets.
- Review subjects offered and recommend to senior leadership development/s to ensure a broad and balanced curriculum meeting the needs and aspirations of students.
- To work in collaboration with the VP Secondary on quality assurance and Performance Management of A level and IGCSE staff and to identify specific CPD support, and/or mentoring needs.
- To teach an A level subject and during the 2023-2024 A Level planning stage, an IGCSE subject
- Perform other tasks as may be assigned from time to time.

Education & Qualifications:
- A Master's degree or relevant higher qualification in Education or a related field
- A Bachelor's degree in a subject area related to the A Level & IGCSE curriculum
- Strong understanding of the British Curriculum and international standards for A Level & IGCSE programs
- Proven experience in curriculum development and delivery, with a focus on student achievement and pedagogical excellence
- Knowledge of student welfare and pastoral care systems in an educational context
