Position title: Lathe Machine Operator / Machinist – Workshop
Location: Sajja Industrial Area, Sharjah
Main purpose:
Responsible for setting up and operating manual lathe machines to machine shafts, pins, bushes, and other precision parts for industrial machinery repair and fabrication.
Key duties and responsibilities:
Read and understand job orders, sketches, or samples to know required dimensions and tolerances.
Set up manual lathe (chucks, centers, tools) and select correct speeds and feeds for material and job.
Turn, face, groove, thread, and bore parts such as shafts, pins, bushes, sleeves, and other components.
Measure workpieces using vernier calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure accuracy within tolerance.
Perform minor repairs and modifications on worn parts from hydraulic jacks, booms, buckets, and drilling equipment.
Deburr, clean, and mark finished parts and handover to supervisor or fabrication team.
Carry out routine maintenance and cleaning of lathe machine and keep tools arranged properly.
Follow workshop safety rules and use proper PPE at all times.
Requirements:Minimum 2–3 years experience operating manual lathe in machine shop.
Ability to read basic drawings and use precision measuring instruments (vernier, micrometer, dial gauge).
Good knowledge of different materials (mild steel, alloy steel, stainless, etc.) and suitable cutting speeds.
Strong attention to detail and quality; able to work with minimum supervision.
