Overview Of The Role:
- The Senior Design Engineer is responsible for coordinating design information and preparing comprehensive workshop drawings to support construction processes. The role entails supervising junior coordinators and collaborating across disciplines to ensure seamless integration and compliance with project standards. The role demands expertise in civil and architectural engineering, proactive communication, workload management, and effective liaison with clients and consultants.
What You Will Do:
Project Document Review
- Review project/contract documents to identify gaps or differences in architecture, structural, ID, and MEP services drawings.
- Highlight discrepancies and missing design information and raise RFIs.
- Identify modifications between tender and IFC packages.
Drawing Preparation
- Prepare rough drafts and scale working drawings.
- Guide drafting technicians to prepare final shop drawings.
Shop Drawing Coordination
- Review shop drawings and details of various structural, architectural, and ID elements.
- Coordinate with the MEP team to ensure seamless integration.
Steel Drawings & BBS
- Review and approve steel drawings, details, and Bar Bending Schedules (BBS) for accuracy and compliance.
- Verify subcontract works against BOQs and highlight discrepancies.
Submission Management
- Ensure timely submission of shop drawings to consultants.
- Coordinate for timely approval of submissions.
Subcontractor Coordination
- Manage and oversee sub-contractors and suppliers.
- Review and coordinate all subcontractors' submittals for compliance with project design and specifications.
- Follow up for timely submission of materials and shop drawings.
- Document project technical issues logs and maintain the project technical library.
Site Assistance
- Perform regular site inspections to ensure adequate implementation during site execution phases.
- Provide technical support to the team and resolve design-related issues.
Client & Consultant Liaison
- Act as the primary point of contact for technical queries.
- Collaborate with clients, consultants, and project teams to resolve issues promptly.
General Operational Accountabilities
- Plan and organize workload to meet project priorities.
- Work unsupervised while resolving issues to meet required timescales.
- Demonstrate effective communication and technical skills in collaborating with various teams.
Safety, Quality & Environment
- Adhere to safety, quality, and environmental procedures to guarantee compliance.
- Contribute to continuous improvement opportunities within Al Futtaim and its employees.
- Address any other reasonable work tasks allocated by the Line Manager.

What Qualifies You For The Role:
- Graduate in Civil Engineering or Architecture Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of GCC experience working in the technical office of reputed main contractors on building projects.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office, PDF editor software, and BIM.
- Strong understanding of Dubai local authority requirements and regulations.
