Job Description
The Biomedical Engineering (BMET) Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the Biomedical Maintenance requirements for Iqarus. This includes BMET requirements for Iqarus projects, Iqarus clients, and International SOS projects in an efficient, organised and cost-effective manner.
The BMET Department is an income generating Business Unit within the Department with targets and business expectations within the company.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the BMET capability within the Iqarus Head Office, supporting all Iqarus BMET requirements.
- Services for BMET activity includes our client categorised as follows:
- Internal Iqarus projects requiring BMET services for our equipment included in our client contracts
- Iqarus projects where BMET services are billed under an agreement or on an ad-hoc basis
- International SOS projects worldwide under the MSA in place for all Group BMET services in all countries
- External clients outside the Group where we have set up services for various entities, companies, organisations or businesses for BMET calibration of medical equipment.
- Coordinate activities for BMET requirements to various clients on deployed. This includes coordinating the requirements where necessary, organising the travel and visas, as well as coordinating the activities with the client, and the Iqarus Procurement Team where needed, as well as the deployed BMET personnel and the end-users.
- Supervise the generation of client reports, certificates and other client mandated paperwork, including storage and management of all BMET service documentation in line with traceability requirements as mandated in our SOP’s and in line with ISO 13485 requirements.
- Billing and invoicing of all BMET activities once complete to ensure we follow the laid-down Finance system SOP’s.
- Direct continuous point of liaison with International SOS regions, managers and client interfaces for the provision of BMET service line activities in each country and or region.
- Coordinating the evaluation, repair and final disposition of Iqarus owned or client owned equipment as required to maintain capability within the projects.
- Efficiently schedule and organise deployed BMET technicians on internal projects including Afghanistan, Africa, SE Asia, Europe Middle East or other regions as deployed. Provide regular updates on the efficiency of deployed BMET personnel to projects.
- Manage a cloud-based scheduling system of BMET activity, ensuring cost-effective delivery of services to clients maximining utilisation of BMET deployed staff over periods of deployment.
- Gathering equipment status reports and reviewing information and relevant data within the online BMET cloud application.
- Coordinate activity reports on a monthly basis as required.
- Assist in the development of annual BMET budget.
- Other administrative and support duties as assigned by the Senior Operations Manager.

Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience:
- Biomedical Engineering qualification, whether BMET engineer, electrical engineer with biomedical equipment technology experience, sufficient field experience in BMET services, BMET coordination and/or management.
- Minimum of 5 years’ coordination or supervisory biomedical engineering experience, preferably in a similar geographical location.
- Working knowledge of or experience in ISO 13485:2016 Medical Devices Management is a prerequisite for this role.
- Experience of working in a biomedical and/or healthcare system.
- Good knowledge of administrative processes.
- Excellent planning and organising skills.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good IT skills (Word, Excel and Outlook a minimum), with ability to use, learn implement systems and new programs relevant to the BMET landscape.
