Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi, is looking for an innovative and team-oriented Chief Engineer to join our dynamic team! Holiday Inn is the first of its brand in Abu Dhabi. What’s the job?
Guest safety and comfort are the heart of everything we do - and we're seeking a dynamic, hands-on Chief Engineer to help us deliver on that promise.
In this role, you’ll lead and coach a small but talented engineering team, anticipating maintenance needs and keeping our hotel operating at its best. You’ll oversee daily operations, special projects, and an upcoming renovation for our iconic 17-year-old property. You’ll also focus on team development, succession planning, and performance management, while championing sustainability, community engagement, and energy-efficiency initiatives. Staying current with industry trends, you’ll help ensure our property remains both responsible and forward-thinking.

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering an exceptional guest experience by maintaining brand standards, ensuring safety and comfort, and supporting overall guest satisfaction. You will manage daily engineering operations, ensuring effective task allocation and a consistently well-maintained environment.
Key responsibilities include inventory and budget management, supporting sustainability and green initiatives, and responding flexibly to operational priorities. You will build strong relationships with external stakeholders, including guests and regulatory agencies. You will lead, coach, and develop an engineering team to achieve high maintenance standards and continuous improvement. This role is suited to a growth-oriented leader committed to operational excellence and sustainable practices.
What we need from you
Bachelor’s degree/higher education qualification/equivalent in Hotel Management or four years’ experience in general building maintenance and/or construction or equivalent combination of education and experience. Specialized expertise in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry fields. Level 3 EPA Certification, HVAC and refrigeration certificate, licensed plumber and/or electrician may be required. Hotel experience preferred. Professional certification and licence if required by law, or related field plus 4+ years of related experience, including management experience.
Must speak, read and write English fluently.
Must obtain certification or permits as required by local government.
