Your impact
Jacobs is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Architect to oversee and ensure the quality and compliance of architectural and civil works in Hospital construction and renovation projects.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in architectural works, civil engineering principles, and hospitality construction standards.
Site Supervision & Quality Assurance:
• Conduct periodic site visits to monitor construction progress and ensure compliance with approved architectural drawings, specifications, contract documents, and quality standards.
• Identify and document any deviations, defects, or non-conformities, and coordinate with the contractor for timely rectification.
• Oversee the quality of materials, workmanship, and finishes, ensuring they meet the specified requirements for healthcare environments (e.g., infection control, durability, cleanability).
• Review and approve material submittals, mock-ups, and samples from contractors and suppliers.
Design & Technical Compliance:
• Interpret and enforce architectural design intent throughout the construction process.
• Review contractor's shop drawings, method statements, and as-built drawings for accuracy and compliance with design.
• Address and resolve design-related issues, RFIs (Requests for Information), and technical queries that arise during construction, coordinating with the design team as necessary.
• Coordinate integration of architectural elements with MEP, structural, medical equipment, and other specialist systems.
Coordination & Communication:
• Act as the primary architectural point of contact on site, liaising effectively with the client, Resident Engineer, Project Director, Main Contractors, specialist consultants and regulatory authorities.
• Participate in site meetings, progress meetings, and technical workshops.
• Facilitate effective communication and coordination between all project stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
Regulatory Compliance & Standards:
• Ensure all architectural works comply with UAE building codes, local municipality regulations (e.g., Dubai Municipality, Abu Dhabi Municipality), health authority requirements (e.g., DHA, DoH, MOHAP), and international healthcare standards (e.g., JCI Accreditation, NFPA).
• Stay updated on relevant regulations and industry best practices for healthcare construction.
Reporting & Documentation:
• Prepare detailed daily/monthly site progress reports, inspection reports, and defect lists.
• Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including site diaries, meeting minutes, correspondence, and photographic records.
• Assist in the preparation of project close-out documentation, including snag lists, punch lists, and handover reports.
Problem Solving & Risk Management:
• Proactively identify potential construction challenges, design clashes, or site-specific issues and propose effective solutions in coordination with the project team.
• Assist in evaluating and responding to contractor claims related to architectural scope.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):
• Monitor adherence to site HSE policies and procedures as per the approved HSE Plan.
Here's what you'll need
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture
- 10–12 years of progressive architectural experience, including 5–7 years supervising construction for major healthcare/hospital projects
- Experience in the healthcare construction market with strong knowledge of local regulations and authorities
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and related software
- Strong knowledge of building codes, international healthcare design standards, and local authority requirements.
