Role Description This is a contract, on-site Welding Engineer role based in Abu Dhabi Emirate, United Arab Emirates. The Welding Engineer will develop and qualify welding procedures, select appropriate welding processes, and support welding operations for pipeline projects. Daily activities include reviewing project specifications and drawings, coordinating with site supervisors and welders, and providing technical guidance during fabrication and installation. The role also involves overseeing welding inspection and testing, analyzing weld defects and non-conformities, and recommending corrective actions. The Welding Engineer will prepare technical reports, maintain welding documentation and records, and work closely with quality, safety, and project teams to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and client requirements.
Qualifications

Strong expertise in welding processes, including Arc Welding and Laser Welding, and ability to select and optimize procedures for pipeline applications. Practical knowledge of Welding Inspection and Quality Control, including weld testing, defect analysis, and documentation to applicable standards. Solid understanding of Metallurgy as it relates to weldability, heat-affected zones, material behavior, and selection of consumables. Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience). Familiarity with relevant welding and pipeline codes/standards (e.g., ASME, API, ISO) and preparation of welding procedure specifications (WPS) and procedure qualification records (PQR). Experience in field or construction environments, preferably in oil and gas or pipeline projects, with a strong focus on safety practices. Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with welders, inspectors, and multidisciplinary project teams on-site. Professional certifications such as CSWIP, CWI, IWE, or equivalent are an advantage.
