Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Automation & Instrumentation professional to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of industrial automation systems across large-scale manufacturing operations. The incumbent will play a critical role in project execution, process control enhancement, digital transformation initiatives, and maintenance reliability programs while ensuring operational excellence and safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Project Engineering & Execution
Lead automation and instrumentation activities for Greenfield and Brownfield projects from conceptualization through commissioning.
Develop technical specifications, engineering drawings, control philosophies, and functional design documents.
Coordinate with OEMs, EPC contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
Manage project schedules, budgets, procurement activities, and site execution milestones.
Automation & Control Systems
Design, configure, and maintain PLC, SCADA, DCS, and industrial communication networks.
Drive control system upgrades, modernization projects, and technology migration initiatives.
Develop and implement automation strategies to improve plant productivity, reliability, and energy efficiency.
Support advanced process control and optimization initiatives.
Instrumentation & Maintenance
Oversee installation, calibration, commissioning, and troubleshooting of field instruments and control equipment.
Establish preventive and predictive maintenance practices for automation assets.
Conduct root cause analysis of system failures and implement sustainable corrective actions.
Ensure proper management of system backups, documentation, and cybersecurity controls.
Operational Excellence
Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation enhancement, and cost optimization.
Utilize data analytics and operational performance indicators to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Support reliability engineering programs and plant performance enhancement projects.
Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
Lead and mentor engineering and maintenance teams.
Collaborate closely with production, maintenance, procurement, and project management teams.
Provide technical guidance and training on automation systems and best practices.
Drive a culture of innovation, accountability, and operational excellence.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
MBA/PGDM or equivalent management qualification will be an advantage.
15+ years of experience in industrial automation, instrumentation, process control, and project engineering.
Proven experience in large manufacturing environments such as Cement, Metals, Mining, Power, Chemical, or Process Industries.
Technical Competencies
PLC Platforms: Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider Electric or equivalent.
SCADA/DCS Systems and Industrial Communication Protocols.
Instrumentation systems including transmitters, analyzers, control valves, weigh feeders, and field devices.
SAP PM, maintenance planning systems, and asset management tools.
Process control optimization and advanced automation technologies.
Strong understanding of industrial safety standards and engineering best practices.
