Electrician Job Description

Job Title: Electrician

Job Summary:
An Electrician installs, maintains, repairs, and tests electrical systems, equipment, and wiring in residential, commercial, or industrial settings. They ensure all work complies with safety regulations, electrical codes, and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Install electrical wiring, fixtures, outlets, switches, and circuit breakers.

• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and equipment.

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and electrical schematics.

• Test electrical systems using appropriate diagnostic tools and equipment.

• Perform preventive maintenance on electrical installations.

• Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and company policies.

• Replace defective components such as wiring, fuses, and circuit breakers.

• Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.

• Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and other trades on projects.

• Respond to emergency electrical repairs when required.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Vocational training or apprenticeship in electrical work.

• Valid electrician license or certification (where required).

• Knowledge of electrical codes, wiring systems, and safety procedures.

• Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Good communication and teamwork abilities.

• Physical ability to lift equipment, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with residential, commercial, or industrial electrical systems.

• Familiarity with power tools, testing instruments, and hand tools.

• Time management and organizational skills.

• Attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.

Working Conditions

• Work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.

• May require standing, bending, climbing, and lifting heavy materials.

• May work evenings, weekends, or be on-call for emergency repairs.

Desired Candidate Profile

Desired Candidate Profile – Electrician

• Minimum 2–5 years of proven experience as an Electrician in commercial, industrial, facilities management, or maintenance environments.

• Diploma, ITI, or vocational certification in Electrical Engineering or a related trade.

• Good knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, control panels, circuit breakers, and preventive maintenance.

• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.

• Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.

• Familiar with electrical safety regulations and preventive maintenance procedures.

• Experience using electrical testing instruments and power tools.

• Physically fit and able to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in outdoor environments.

• Good communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

• Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and problem-solving skills.

• Willing to work flexible hours, including emergency call-outs when required.

• UAE experience is preferred.

• Valid UAE Driving License is an advantage.

• Immediate joiners or candidates with a short notice period are preferred.

For your Urban Fulfilment Facilities team, you may also add these preferred requirements:

• Experience maintaining warehouses, dark stores, retail outlets, or logistics facilities.

• Knowledge of lighting systems, power distribution, DB panels, UPS, generators, and emergency lighting.

• Basic understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and general building maintenance is an advantage.

• Experience working under preventive maintenance schedules and responding to breakdown maintenance.

• Ability to prepare maintenance reports and coordinate with the Facilities Manager and HSE team.
