Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Roads Engineer to oversee the construction and supervision of roadworks for the Al Raha Island development in Ras Al Khaimah. The successful candidate will ensure that all road construction activities are executed in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, contract requirements, and project schedules.


We envisage success in this role to include:


  • Supervise the construction of roads, pavements, intersections, roundabouts, kerbs, footpaths, and associated infrastructure works.
  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, health and safety requirements, and contract obligations.
  • Review shop drawings, method statements, material submittals, and inspection requests related to roadworks.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure work is completed in accordance with approved designs and industry standards.
  • Coordinate with utility engineers and other disciplines to ensure proper integration of roadworks with underground services.
  • Monitor construction progress, identify potential issues, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Witness testing of road materials, asphalt works, subgrade, sub-base, and pavement construction.
  • Prepare technical reports, site instructions, and progress updates.
  • Support the Resident Engineer in resolving technical and contractual issues.
  • Ensure compliance with local authority standards and project requirements.

Qualifications

To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that you will have a minimum


  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in road construction and supervision, preferably on major infrastructure projects.
  • At least 5 years of UAE experience in consultancy or construction supervision.
  • Strong experience in:
    • Road construction and pavement works
    • Asphalt and concrete pavements
    • Earthworks and grading
    • Kerbs, footpaths, and road furniture
    • Traffic management during construction
  • Good understanding of relevant international standards and UAE authority requirements.
  • Familiarity with FIDIC contracts is an advantage.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
  • UAE driving licence is preferred.
