About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Consultant Psychiatrist to join a leading healthcare facility in Sharjah. The ideal candidate will be UK-trained, board-certified, and fluent in Arabic, with strong expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of a wide range of psychiatric disorders.
This role involves working within a multidisciplinary mental health team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered psychiatric care in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
Key Responsibilities
Assess, diagnose, and manage a wide range of mental health disorders, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychosis, and personality disorders Provide psychiatric evaluations, risk assessments, and ongoing treatment planning Manage both acute psychiatric presentations and long-term mental health conditions Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications safely and effectively Deliver inpatient, outpatient, and emergency psychiatric care Collaborate with psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals Provide psychotherapy and supportive counseling when appropriate Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and treatment planning Ensure compliance with ethical, legal, and clinical standards in psychiatric practice Contribute to clinical governance, audits, and quality improvement initiatives Provide supervision and training to junior doctors and mental health staff Promote mental health awareness and patient education initiatives
Requirements
Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution Board Certification in Psychiatry (mandatory) Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Consultant Psychiatrist UK CCT / MRCPsych or equivalent Western training strongly preferred Fluency in Arabic and English (mandatory/preferable depending on patient population) Strong experience in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and leadership skills Ability to manage complex and high-risk psychiatric cases Strong understanding of cultural sensitivity in mental health care Eligibility for UAE medical licensing (MOHAP for Sharjah)
