Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Healthcare Assistant role based at National General Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah. The Healthcare Assistant supports nurses and physicians in providing direct patient care, including assisting with personal hygiene, mobility, and basic daily activities. Responsibilities include monitoring and recording vital signs, helping with patient transfers and positioning, and ensuring a clean, safe, and organized patient environment. The role involves preparing equipment and supplies, supporting infection prevention practices, and following health and safety procedures at all times. The Healthcare Assistant also communicates with patients and families in a respectful manner, reports changes in patient condition, and works closely with the clinical team to deliver efficient, person-centered care.
Qualifications

Strong patient care skills, including assisting with daily living activities and monitoring basic patient needs. Knowledge of safe manual handling techniques and ability to assist with patient mobility and transfers. Understanding of basic medicine-related procedures within scope of practice and ability to follow clinical instructions accurately. Awareness of health & safety and infection control practices in a hospital setting, with commitment to maintaining a safe environment. Well-developed interpersonal skills, including clear communication, empathy, and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team. Relevant healthcare assistant or nursing aide certification/diploma, or equivalent practical experience in a clinical environment. Ability to follow established protocols, maintain patient confidentiality, and document care activities accurately. Basic computer skills for handling electronic records and hospital systems; proficiency in English required, additional languages an advantage. Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed to support continuous patient care.
