The role is for Jr. Engineer/Engineer/Sr. Engineer/Asst. Manager level Planning with a costing background.

The Engineer – QS is responsible for supporting quantity surveying and commercial activities, including quantity take-offs, measurement, bill preparation, cost tracking and documentation. This entry-level position provides hands-on experience in both pre-contract and post-contract QS functions and works under the supervision of senior team members to ensure commercial compliance and accuracy in project reporting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Assist in preparing quantity take-offs and BOQs from project drawings and specifications.

• Support in compiling unit rates, rate analysis and tender documentation.

• Help in reviewing tender documents and identifying scope items.

• Maintain estimation databases and assist in comparative pricing sheets.

• Support in preparing interim payment applications and subcontractor bills.

• Assist in measurement of completed works and reconciliation with BOQ.

• Maintain records for variations, material reconciliation and site instructions.

• Track cost expenditures and support in preparing cost reports for management review.

• Liaise with site engineers for quantity updates and progress verification.

• Collect quotations and assist in vendor/subcontractor comparison sheets.

• Ensure documentation is maintained for all commercial activities.

• Support in the preparation of reports, presentations and internal memos.

FRAMEWORKS, BOUNDARIES & DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY:

The Engineer QS works under close supervision and follows defined procedures and formats. They do not hold commercial decision-making authority but provide critical support in ensuring accuracy and completeness of QS data and reports.

Desired Candidate Profile

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering / quantity surveying / construction management.

• 4–15years of relevant experience is a must in Planning with a costing background.

• Exposure to QS practices in construction or real estate projects is an added advantage.
