Job Summary
The Construction Manager is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, execution, and supervision of construction activities on site. The role ensures that all works are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with project specifications, drawings, quality standards, and contractual requirements. The Construction Manager leads site teams and subcontractors while coordinating closely with consultants, clients, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Coordination
Plan, monitor, and control all site activities to achieve productivity targets and adherence to approved project schedules.
Develop, implement, and monitor construction methodologies and production control systems, including preparation of method statements and work procedures.
Prepare work packages, construction sequences, and pre-start activity plans.
Coordinate on-site and off-site logistics with procurement and stores teams to ensure timely delivery of materials, equipment, and resources.
Plan and manage pre-commissioning activities, final handover, and closure of all snag items.
Site Supervision & Execution
Supervise and coordinate all on-site construction activities, ensuring effective site organization and allocation of responsibilities.
Ensure execution of works in accordance with approved construction programs, method statements, specifications, drawings, and quality requirements.
Track, document, and communicate all design changes and site instructions as directed by the Project Manager or Consultant.
Lead and coordinate subcontractor activities, conducting regular site meetings to review progress, productivity, quality, and corrective actions.
Quality Assurance & Control
Review site quality observations, NCRs, and inspection reports, ensuring timely corrective and preventive actions.
Ensure all inspections and tests are carried out and approved prior to covering up works, in coordination with the QA/QC team.
Manage non-conforming works and oversee remedial and corrective activities.
Evaluate and monitor subcontractor and supplier performance.
Review drawings, specifications, and shop drawings, resolving technical issues in coordination with Engineering and the Project Manager.
Communication & Liaison
Liaise with clients, consultants, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance and smooth project execution.
Ensure all verbal instructions, design changes, and site directives are properly documented and communicated.
Coordinate with the Commercial Manager / Quantity Surveyor on changes affecting cost, variations, and claims.
Health, Safety & Environment
Implement and enforce project HSE policies, procedures, and safe work practices on site.
Promote a strong safety culture with the objective of achieving zero accidents and incidents.
Take appropriate disciplinary action for safety violations and respond effectively to incidents and emergencies.
Ensure compliance with statutory safety regulations and company HSE standards.
Required Qualifications & Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering.
15+ years of experience in construction management roles (preferable high-rise building projects).
Strong technical knowledge of construction materials, methods, logistics, and site execution.
Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
Strong understanding of construction planning, scheduling, and production control.
Excellent coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in spoken and written English.
Strong computer skills and familiarity with construction management tools.
Ability to manage conflicts, risks, and critical site situations effectively.
