Role Description The Equipment Manager is a part-time remote role responsible for overseeing, organizing, and maintaining laboratory and research-related equipment inventories used by ORAS and its partners. This role includes tracking equipment availability, coordinating borrowing or scheduling, and ensuring accurate documentation of assets and maintenance records. The Equipment Manager will collaborate with researchers and support staff to understand technical requirements, verify that equipment specifications meet project needs, and recommend suitable tools or vendors when necessary. Daily tasks include updating digital logs, monitoring equipment status, organizing service and calibration schedules, and contributing to procedures that support safe and efficient use of equipment. The role also involves communicating clearly with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues, optimize equipment utilization, and support high-quality research outcomes. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong organizational and inventory management skills, including tracking assets, maintaining records, and prioritizing multiple requests. Candidates should possess basic technical knowledge of laboratory and medical research equipment, with the ability to understand specifications and match tools to project needs. Candidates should possess proficiency with digital tools and software for spreadsheets, databases, and online collaboration platforms used in remote work. Candidates should possess effective communication and collaboration skills, including clear written and verbal communication in English; Arabic language skills are an advantage. Candidates should possess attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to accuracy, reliability, and safe equipment handling. Relevant experience in a research, laboratory, or academic setting is beneficial, and a background in medical, biological, or related sciences is preferred. Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage part-time hours responsibly, and adapt to evolving processes and priorities.
