Driver for 3 Ton Cargo Box Pickup for a Furniture Company.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Loading and Unloading: Safely loading and unloading customers' furniture onto and off the trucks, ensuring that items are secured to prevent damage during transport.
Transportation: Driving vehicles safely to the customer's location within set timeframes. This responsibility requires adherence to traffic laws, and often navigation through unfamiliar areas.
Delivery & Assembly: Delivering items to customers' homes, which may include carrying heavy items to specific rooms, sometimes through narrow spaces or up staircases. Some drivers may also be required to assemble furniture on site.
Inspection & Quality Control: Conducting a final inspection of the furniture upon delivery to ensure there is no damage and that it matches the customer's order specifications.
Customer Service: Interacting with customers professionally and courteously, answering questions related to their order, and handling complaints or issues that arise upon delivery. This may also involve explaining product care and maintenance.
Documentation: Completing necessary paperwork or digital logs related to the delivery, including delivery notes, customer signatures for received items, or logs of any issues encountered during the delivery process.
Vehicle Maintenance: Performing routine checks and basic maintenance on delivery vehicles, ensuring they remain clean, fueled, and ready for use. Reporting any malfunctions or necessary repairs to management.
Inventory Management: Assisting in warehouse duties, such as organizing inventory or selecting and preparing items for upcoming deliveries.
Safety Compliance: Adhering to health and safety regulations to ensure the wellbeing of themselves, their team, and the customers during the delivery process.
Communication: Maintaining effective communication with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and management, often requiring the use of mobile devices or onboard systems to update on delivery status or receive new instructions.
Problem-Solving: Addressing challenges or problems encountered during delivery promptly and efficiently, sometimes requiring quick decision-making or coordination with the main office or warehouse.
Representing the Brand: Acting as a representative of the furniture company during interactions with customers, thereby contributing to the overall customer experience and satisfaction.
Furniture Delivery Drivers need to possess physical strength and stamina, given the manual handling and lifting involved, alongside good interpersonal skills, patience, reliability, and problem-solving abilities. Additionally, they should have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. Knowledge of basic furniture assembly may also be required or preferred
