About the Role The Shariah Auditor will be responsible for leading and supporting internal Shariah audits across Islamic banking units, products, services, and transactions. The role involves contributing to the annual Shariah Audit Plan through risk-based audits, continuous monitoring, and evaluating Shari’ah non-compliance risks within assigned areas. Key Responsibilities Shari’ah Audit Execution & Planning Deliver internal Shari’ah audit objectives through a systematic and disciplined audit approach, enhancing the effectiveness of Shari’ah controls, governance, and processes. Support the Head of Shari’ah Audit in preparing the Annual Shari’ah Audit Plan by conducting robust risk assessments. Execute Shari’ah audits for assigned business and risk areas using advanced techniques, including data analytics. Develop audit planning documentation such as Audit Planning Memos, Terms of Reference, and entity-level risk assessments for management approval. Conduct detailed walk-throughs to understand processes, identify gaps, and evaluate adherence to documented procedures. Analysis, Fieldwork & Reporting Perform high-quality and well-documented audit fieldwork in line with Internal Shari’ah Audit methodology and IIA standards within agreed timelines. Identify control gaps, analyze documentation, evaluate risks, and identify vulnerabilities related to Shari’ah non-compliance. Test the design and effectiveness of existing controls and perform inquiries to validate audit findings. Formulate clear audit findings and recommendations for review by the Head of Shari’ah Audit. Prepare and review audit reports ensuring compliance with AAOIFI Shari’ah Standards, ISSC, HSA-CBUAE and general principles of Islamic finance. Stakeholder Engagement & Continuous Monitoring Engage with stakeholders regularly to understand business changes, reassess risks, and propose updates to the annual audit plan. Discuss findings, agree on action plans, and follow up with auditees to ensure timely closure of audit issues via Team Mate and Team Central. Support ongoing risk monitoring and validation of remediation actions for Internal Shari’ah Audit and regulatory findings. Proactively challenge existing processes and recommend enhancements to strengthen Shari’ah governance and operational efficiency. Professional Development & Risk Awareness Build expertise on emerging Shari’ah non-compliance risks and prioritize them effectively for audit planning and execution.
