Job Summary The Storekeeper Officer is responsible for managing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of thestore or warehouse within an industrial manufacturing company. This role involves ensuring the properstorage, inventory control, and timely issuance of materials, tools, and finished goods. The Storekeeper Officer plays a key role in maintaining accurate inventory records, coordinating material handling, andsupporting production and logistics teams to ensure efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, including raw materials, components, and finished goods. Monitor stock movements and ensure that materials are stored properly to prevent damage or deterioration. Conduct regular stock checks, cycle counts, and inventory audits to ensure stock accuracy. Ensure the timely and accurate updating of inventory records in the company’s inventory management system (e.g., ERP or WMS). Manage reordering of materials and stock levels to avoid shortages or overstocking.
2. Material Issuance and Distribution Issue materials and components to production or other departments based onrequisitions or requests, ensuring that the correct quantity and type of materials areprovided. Ensure that materials issued are logged properly, and inventory records are updatedaccordingly. Coordinate with production, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure timelyavailability of materials. Assist in the timely and accurate packing, labeling, and dispatching of finished goods ormaterials for distribution.
3. Storage and Organization Ensure that materials are stored efficiently and safely within the warehouse or store to maximize space utilization and prevent damage. Organize the layout of the store/warehouse to optimize material handling and accessibility. Ensure proper labeling and identification of materials and stock for easy location and retrieval. Maintain a clean and safe working environment within the store and warehouse areas, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
4. Record Keeping and Documentation Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of material receipts, issues, transfers, and returns. Prepare and maintain all necessary documentation related to material movements, including goods receipt notes, goods issue slips, and material requisitions. Ensure that all material transactions are accurately recorded in the system and any discrepancies are promptly reported to management.
5. Quality Control and Inspection Inspect materials upon receipt to ensure they meet the required quality and quantity specifications. Report any discrepancies, damages, or quality issues with incoming materials to the appropriate department or supplier. Work with the quality control team to ensure that materials are stored in accordance with company quality standards and procedures.
6. Health and Safety Compliance Adhere to company policies and legal regulations regarding the safe storage, handling, and transportation of materials. Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and procedures to minimize risks in he warehouse or store area. Participate in safety training and ensure that the store/warehouse area is kept clean and organized at all times to prevent accidents or hazards.
7. Material Returns and Reconciliation Manage the return of unused or damaged materials to suppliers or vendors, ensuring that proper documentation is completed. Reconcile material stock discrepancies and assist in investigating the root causes of discrepancies in stock levels. Assist with periodic stock audits and physical counts to ensure accurate inventory records.
8. Support Production and Logistics Support the production team by ensuring that necessary materials are available on time to meet production schedules. Coordinate with the logistics team to ensure materials are delivered or dispatched as needed. Assist in packaging and preparing materials or finished products for shipment.
