Job Description – Consultant Nephrologist Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Consultant Nephrologist to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team in Abu Dhabi.
The successful candidate will provide expert care in the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of patients with acute and chronic kidney diseases.
The Consultant Nephrologist will collaborate closely with intensivists, transplant teams, urologists, and other specialists to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care while ensuring compliance with DOH regulations and international clinical standards.
Responsibilities Diagnose, evaluate, and manage patients with acute and chronic kidney diseases.
Assess and treat conditions including: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) Glomerular diseases Nephrotic and nephritic syndromes Diabetic kidney disease Hypertensive nephropathy Polycystic kidney disease Electrolyte and acid-base disorders Kidney stones and related renal disorders Manage patients requiring hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT).
Evaluate and prepare patients for renal replacement therapy and kidney transplantation, including pre- and post-transplant care where applicable.
Perform and interpret diagnostic procedures related to nephrology, including renal biopsies (where credentialed) and interpretation of laboratory and imaging findings.
Collaborate with intensive care, cardiology, endocrinology, urology, transplant surgery, and internal medicine teams for comprehensive patient management.
Provide inpatient consultations and outpatient nephrology services.
Develop individualized treatment plans and monitor patients for disease progression and treatment response.
Educate patients and families regarding kidney disease prevention, lifestyle modifications, medication adherence, and dialysis care.
Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, morbidity and mortality reviews, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical audits.
Supervise and mentor specialists, residents, fellows, and junior medical staff.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the hospital's electronic medical records.
Ensure compliance with DOH regulations, hospital policies, infection prevention protocols, patient safety standards, and clinical governance requirements.
Participate in on-call nephrology services as required.

MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
Completion of an accredited residency in Internal Medicine followed by a recognized fellowship or subspecialty training in Nephrology.
Fellowship/CCT/CCST/Arab Board/American Board/Canadian Board or equivalent qualification recognized by DOH for Consultant registration.
Eligibility for or possession of a DOH Consultant Nephrologist License .
Relevant post-qualification experience as per DOH Professional Qualification Requirements.
Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is preferred.
