Endoscopy Technician

  • Prepare and set up endoscopy equipment, including endoscopes, light sources, video monitors, and accessories, ensuring they are clean, sterile, and functioning properly before procedures.
  • Assist in preparing patients for endoscopic procedures, including explaining the procedure, obtaining consent, and positioning patients comfortably on the examination table.
  • Provide technical assistance to physicians and nurses during endoscopic procedures, including passing instruments, handling specimens, and adjusting equipment settings as directed.
  • Monitor and record patients' vital signs, such as heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation, throughout the procedure, alerting the medical team to any significant changes or abnormalities.
  • Maintain a sterile field during endoscopic procedures by adhering to aseptic techniques, ensuring that sterile drapes, gloves, and instruments are used appropriately to prevent contamination.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions or technical issues that arise during procedures, collaborating with biomedical engineering or technical support staff as needed to resolve problems promptly.
  • Assist in post-procedure care of patients, including transferring them to recovery areas, monitoring their recovery progress, and providing comfort measures as directed by the medical team.
  • Clean, disinfect, and sterilize endoscopy equipment and accessories according to established protocols and infection control guidelines, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of endoscopy supplies, including ordering, stocking, and organizing supplies to ensure availability for procedures and prevent shortages.
  • Accurately document procedural details, patient assessments, and equipment maintenance activities in patient records and departmental logs, adhering to confidentiality and privacy policies.
  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities related to endoscopy procedures, including monitoring infection control practices, tracking outcomes, and implementing best practices.
  • Provide basic education to patients and their families about endoscopic procedures, including pre-procedure instructions, post-procedure care, and potential risks or complications.


Skills

  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience as an Endoscopy Technician, preferably in a hospital or ambulatory surgical center setting.
  • Licensure: Candidates should have undergone evaluation by the Ministry of Health (MOH) or an equivalent regulatory body in the UAE.
