Assistant Financial Controller

Charterhouse is currently working with a leading client within the trading and logistics space, whom are in the process of looking to recruit an Assistant Financial Controller to their growing team. Within the controlling department, this role will directly support the head of financial control, spanning a broad range of reporting and finance-based responsibilities, to enhance overall controllership and governance. The Assistant Financial Controller will take oversight of the budgeting and forecasting process whilst also overseeing the development of costing policies across the operation, to ensure both accurate reporting and control measures for operational strategy and any expenditure efficiencies. This role will also focus towards financial analysis, to execute variance reporting linked to budgets, along with the development of forecasting-based tools to assess market trends, business coverage for expansion, and any changes within the supply chain margins and costings.

The client will look to recruit a professionally qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CPA) with an ability to demonstrate excellent controllership and reporting skills spanning the context of budgeting, costing and forecasting. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding regarding the dynamics of both commercial and operational principles, along with an ability to develop reports and commentaries, for provision to all senior business managers and stakeholders. The successful candidate shall possess a strong and hands-on knowledge across ERP-based platforms, coupled with an advanced Excel capability, to facilitate accurate, robust and timely reports for both statutory and analytical purposes. In conjunction, the client will look towards candidates coming from either the logistics/shipping and/or trading-related organisations, to allow both ease of inception and a baseline of knowledge-transfer.
