Marine Technician

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnostics and Troubleshooting: Perform thorough inspections and diagnostics on marine engines and systems to identify issues.
  • Repairs and Maintenance: Conduct repairs and regular maintenance on marine engines (inboard and outboard), propulsion systems, electrical systems, and other mechanical components.
  • Installation: Install new marine engines, systems, and equipment, ensuring proper alignment, fitting, and operation.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all work complies with industry standards, safety regulations, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair work, including parts used and hours worked.
  • Customer Service: Communicate with boat owners and operators regarding repair needs, cost estimates, and work performed.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with other technicians and marine professionals to ensure efficient workflow and quality control.
  • Emergency Repairs: Provide on-site repair services in emergency situations, which may include travel to different locations.


Skills

Technical Skills: Strong understanding of marine engines, propulsion systems, and electrical systems. Proficiency with diagnostic tools and repair equipment.

Experience: Previous experience in marine mechanics or a related field. Certifications such as ABYC (American Boat and Yacht Council) or NMEA (National Marine Electronics Association) are preferred.

Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy equipment and working in confined spaces.

Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients and team members.
