Ducting technicians

  • Install, assemble, and secure ductwork and related components according to specifications and building codes.
  • Ensure proper alignment and secure connections of ducts and fittings.
  • Inspect existing ductwork for signs of wear, damage, or leakage.
  • Perform repairs or replacements on damaged or worn-out ducts.
  • Clean ducts and HVAC components to ensure optimal performance and air quality.
  • Test installed ductwork and HVAC systems for proper operation and performance.
  • Identify and diagnose issues related to ductwork and HVAC systems.
  • Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while working.

Skills

  • Understanding of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, including how ductwork integrates with these systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams related to ductwork installation and repair.
  • Proficiency in installing various types of ductwork, including sheet metal, flexible ducts, and insulated ducts.
  • Skillful use of hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment for cutting, bending, and securing ductwork.
  • Competence in using tools to measure airflow, pressure, and system performance, and the ability to make necessary adjustments.
