Black & Grey HR is hiring for a renowned University in the UAE. Our client is looking to hire a Braille Operator who will be responsible for converting printed materials into Braille to support students and individuals with disabilities. This role ensures that visually impaired students have access to academic and non-academic resources, operating relevant software and equipment while promoting inclusivity within the university.
- Transcribe and convert textbooks, academic materials, and other documents into Braille with accuracy.
- Operate Braille translation software and embossers to produce high-quality Braille documents.
- Ensure Braille materials are formatted and readable according to international standards.
- Guide students on using Braille materials and assistive devices.
- Maintain and troubleshoot Braille equipment, including embossers and printers.
- Work with faculty to ensure course materials are available in Braille format.
- Collaborate with the Centre team to support students with various disabilities.
- Liaise with suppliers for the procurement and maintenance of Braille equipment.
- Conduct quality checks on Braille materials and maintain records of requests and equipment use.
- Ensure confidentiality and adhere to data protection policies.
- Provide training on Braille resources and assistive technologies.
- Stay updated on Braille technology advancements and best practices.
RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS:
- Certification or training in Braille transcription or Braille equipment is desirable.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. Degrees in special education or assistive technology are preferred.
- 2-3 years of experience in Braille transcription or a related field.
- Experience working with individuals with visual impairments is a plus.
SKILLS:
- Proficiency in Braille transcription and Braille translation software.
- Familiarity with assistive technologies for visually impaired individuals.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate Braille materials.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Basic troubleshooting skills for Braille equipment.
