- Inventory Management:
- Oversee the receipt, storage, and distribution of pharmaceutical products.
- Monitor inventory levels and manage stock rotation to prevent expirations and shortages.
- Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding medication storage and handling.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and implement necessary changes in warehouse practices.
- Prepare and submit required documentation and reports to regulatory authorities.
- Quality Assurance:
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure the integrity and safety of medications.
- Manage and investigate any issues related to medication quality, such as recalls or discrepancies.
- Ensure proper storage conditions (temperature, humidity, etc.) for different types of medications.
- Logistics and Distribution:
- Coordinate the efficient distribution of medications to pharmacies, healthcare facilities, and other designated locations.
- Manage logistics and transportation to ensure timely and accurate delivery.
- Optimize warehouse layout and processes to enhance operational efficiency.
- Staff Supervision:
- Oversee and train warehouse staff, including pharmacy technicians and support personnel.
- Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for warehouse operations.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback and development opportunities for team members.
- Record Keeping and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of inventory, transactions, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure proper documentation for incoming and outgoing shipments, including product specifications and lot numbers.
- Safety and Security:
- Implement and enforce safety protocols to protect staff and ensure safe handling of medications.
- Manage security measures to prevent theft, loss, or unauthorized access to medications.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in warehouse management.
- Stay informed about advancements in warehouse technology and pharmacy practices.
Qualifications:
- Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited pharmacy school.
- Licensure: Valid state pharmacy license.
- Experience: Previous experience in warehouse management or a similar role is preferred. Experience in pharmacy practice is also advantageous.
